Russell: Antoneley is better than its F1 result show

Russell told Autosport, “The fact that his speed delta, for me, is no, I think,” Russell told Autosport. “In Canada, I was on the pole and he was in fourth place, but he was in six tenth position behind me. In Belgium, he was in Q1 and I made it for Q3 – but he was only three tenth place.

“So, people look at the underlying result, but the truth is that he is still progressing, even though we have gone backwards, as a team. Suddenly, you are now in the fight where there can be tenth or seven grid spots. Earlier, one of the posts we were fighting is tenth of the tenth position.”

Antoneley’s battle has come to catch Russell, while Mercedes has to face troubles with his W66, which has proved to be a handful of circuits. In an attempt to reduce the issues affecting the W16 performance, Mercedes rolled out a new suspension package for the European race.

However, the result was not enough as the team predicted.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolf said, “There are upgrades to bring the performance,” the team said after finishing third and tenth in Hungary’s Grand Prix.

“There is a lot of simulation and analysis that goes into the car inserting parts, and then they are completely wrong.”

The team realized that its updates were incorrect after running new components in four Grands Prix in Canada, and the Silver Arrow Squad soon decided to get a new suspension from the car. Modifying the parts and thus the week-outs, the week-out, thus affects the integration of the antoneley into F1.
