Pixel 10 Series Camera Comparison: What is happening?

Earlier this week, Google announced Its latest pixel phone lineup, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro folds unveiled. With any new lineup, there is a possibility of how the devices pile up against each other or how they compare with the old model. When we covered the basics of the Pixel 10 series at the time of launch, here we will take a more detailed look at what the devices are different about cameras, video features and special shooting mode.

Camera difference

Two 10 Pro phones and 10 Pro folds placed all the same camera space as 9 Pro devices, so nothing is very exciting there. On the other hand, Pixel 10 has some notable changes. It added a telephoto camera to a row of devices that traditionally had only two (wide, main camera and ultravide). Unfortunately, two other other than that third camera took place downgrade (on paper).

Primary camera on Pixel 10 is not a adequate change resolution war, but this is not a story with a sensor size. Pixel 9 There is a type 1/1.3 (72 mm) sensor, while Pixel 10 uses a type of 1/2 (30.7 mm). It is quite remarkable downgrade, and it is now similar to the primary camera in Pixel 9A, Google’s budget device (which also uses a small sensor compared to its predecessor). We have to do some additional tests on cameras to see what effects are in the real world, but it definitely does not look good on paper.

Ultravide camera is also greatly affected, going from 48MP to 13MP. It also has a small sensor and a small aperture. The newly added telephoto camera on Pixel 10 is a slight decrease compared to the non-folding pro model.

We asked Google Gemini why Google says Pixel can take 9 50MP photos, but we cannot find a setting to use that resolution (the same thing that does PIXEL 10), and it was its reaction.

It is also worth noting that, while Google’s Spec Sheet says that the main camera of Pixel 10 uses 48MP sensor, users will only be able to get Bin 12MP pictures from this. It was also a case with Pixel 9. The Pro model, meanwhile, provides a setting that allows users to be selected between 12MP and 50MP outputs, but this option is not available for standard pixels.

The downgrade may be a little more understood when you believe that the telephoto camera used to be the main differential between the base and the pro model cameras. Eventually, Pixel 9 shared the same wide and ultravide camera glasses as Pixel 9 Pro. If he corresponds to the addition of the telephoto camera, Google will have three devices which were essentially the same in the context of rear cameras.

The second difference between Pixel 10 and 10 Pro cameras comes from selfie camera. The 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL have a high-resolution selfie camera than Pixel 10, so if you really want a sharp selfie, you will be better with the Pro model.

The 10 Pro folds use the main and telephoto cameras the same as Pixel 10. Ultravide camera, however, is a slightly lower resolution and small sensor than Pixel 10.

On the video side of things, there is no adequate change from the previous generation. Most settings and mode remain the same. Google, however, promises some reforms. For example, it states that it increased optical and AI-based stabilization in the pro model, even to say that it is the best of any smartphone (indefinitely). Google also states that it improves the performance of the night (video mode for recording at night).

Naturally, pro models promise better video abilities than Base Pixel 10. It is important to note, however, 8K video is not the original 8K. It depends on Google’s video boost setting that uses cloud-based AI processing that makes 4K footage up to 8K. It also promises to improve light, color, dynamic range and stabilization while reducing noise and grains.

The camera in the phone is just part of the hardware equation. Which modes and settings they offer also make a difference in purpose and quality. Pixel 10 only receives some settings on Pixel 9. Naturally, the pixel 10 offers more optical zoom options, as there is a telephoto lens.

There are some software changes beyond the update camera array, including auto best tech and auto unbalance. 9 offered the best tech and unabated settings, but both were accessed during the editing process. Now, Google can automatically handle those functions using Gemini AI. Auto Best Tech is able to automatically find and combine group photos, selects the best version of each individual for joint photos. Auto unlawful AI uses AI to detect and accelerate blurred photos, whether the subject is a face or not.

There are also some differences between the Pro and the base model. Pro devices offer pro control, or provide the ability to accommodate settings such as ISO, shutter speed, white balance and focus in photo and video settings. Base models do not provide pro control, so if you want to set your exposure manually, you will need a third-party app.

As already discussed, the pro model offers high-rage mode (standard images and portrait mode) for the construction of images up to 50MP, while the Pixel 9 and 10 resulted in the binned 12MP images and do not top out. Finally, 10 Pro and 10 Pro provide additional access from the super race zoom, which uses a combination of crop and liberal AI, in principle, also maintains the quality of the image when zoom up to 100x. Pro folds and pixels 10 only support super race zoom up to 20X, while Pixel is at the top at 98x.

In the context of video settings, there are also some notable differences. Pixel 9 and 10 lack Google’s video boost mode, while all pro models provide access to AI tools. Pro models also provide manual control, such as in photo mode. Finally, only pro model night vision videos provide low-light video mode of Google that uses AI and multi-frame computational photography techniques. The mode promises in low noise, increased brightness and more shade detail while maintaining natural colors and contrast.

Choose your device

For most people, there are many other views when choosing the phone beyond cameras alone. However, if this is a decisive factor for you, the above information should help clarify what the differences between the Pixel 10 series are and what is different from the Pixel 9 series.

In short, the Pixel 9 Pro Lineup has very few camera updates when comparing three devices to the Pixel 10 Pro lineup. Some processors upgrade promise to improve various photography and videography features, but camera-specific glasses remain the same. Pixel 10 has sufficient camera changes, but they cannot like everyone.

The difference between the base model and the pro devices, at least in the context of cameras, comes down to the high image and the quality of the video and more control over the pro -equipment.
