The FIA will facilitate a tender process to help secure a new promoter for the World Rally Championship.
The Motorsport’s governing body announced the move in a statement, marking the first official communication of the FIA, confirming that the WRC promoter is seeking a sales. However, it is widely known that the German firm has been looking for a buyer for more than a year.
In 2024, Reuters told that WRC promoter was ready for saleIt claimed that the current promoters owned by Red Bull and KW25 were working with JP Morgan, one of the world’s largest banking companies, to find an interested buyer – approximately € 500million with the asking price.
Autosport understands that many possible suits from Europe, America and Middle East have announced interest in purchasing WRC promoters. Many interested parties have participated in incidents this year.
“Priority of the FIA is to ensure that WRC is best kept to maximize this capacity and give price to all its stakeholders, including driver, team, manufacturer, organizers and fans, preserving their strong heritage,” read a statement from the FIA.
“The FIA will work with Red Bull and KW25 to look for a new commercial rights holder, committed to long -term investment in the championship and committed to achieving the best possible future for WRC.

“JP Morgan, Global Financial Services Companies, will serve as the Financial Advisor to the Company, Red Bull and KW25, which supports him through the tender process.”
This latest development can help push through sales before the start of 2026 season. The completion of a possible sales has been one of the major objectives when Malcolm Wilson has determined himself when he became the Vice President of the FIA in June.
Wilson said, “The FIA World Rally Championship is the longest of the longest motorcyst series of its kind, one of the most exciting competitions in the world, with a unique heritage and an exciting development trajectory.”
“The tender process for commercial rights holder is a big opportunity for a new enterprise to take the championship in his next chapter with fresh energy and investment. We will work with Red Bull and KW25 to find the best fit for this important role.”

WRC Promoter GMBH acquired commercial rights for the World Rally Championship in 2013. Earlier, promotion was handled by North One Sports, but 10 -year contract with Fiah (since 2010) was canceled before the 2012 season when North One Sports announced insolvency.
Since taking ownership of WRC’s commercial rights, the company has taken over the development of television and internet broadcasting.
