Belkin boostcharge magnetic power bank with QI2: Two-minute review
The 15W Belkin Bulkin with QI2 (10K) is a long name for the Pro Magnetic Power Bank, but writing its title can be the only challenging part of using it. Easily the pair with your iPhone 15, it immediately felt like a high end accessory, with a satisfactory click on the back and with a strong stay in place.
I have been testing the white model for the last few weeks (it also comes in black in the US and Australia, and many other colors in the UK) and I really like smooth, slightly soft finish and smooth minimum design. It puts a magnetically latch on any QI2-Compliant phone or Magsafe iPhone without leaving any scratch. Holding the phone in a strange or unusual position, I thought it could slide a little (or if you push it intentionally), but it is very firmly stuck in my day-to-day use.
My favorite thing about the power bank is how easy it is to use your phone while charging it. This makes it more convenient and comfortable than using your phone, which is more convenient and comfortable than using a wired cord, which requires this content creators or anyone to promote quick power when they go. Its compact, lightweight design means that your phone is easy to catch and use even for small hands. In addition, since it sits comfortably under the camera collision on iPhones (and most other phones), you can take photos or shoot videos as you do normally.
I also appreciated its inherent kickstand and the versatility provided. It is so strong that I have never felt that I have to worry about its stability (even when Google Pixel 9 Pro uses big, heavy phones like Pro XL) and I liked that it is hidden until you need it. It was especially easy to pursue my phone in both pictures and landscape orientations while watching videos, which also makes it a great bedside wireless charger – effectively transform the iPhone into a smart display AppleStandby Mode.
As the power bank name is mentioned, its standout feature is QI2 MAGSAFE Charging. Since most of the Apple phones Magsafe (or QI2) charge since iPhone 12, it is widely compatible with Apple devices. In contrast, the underlying magnets are very rare on Android devices (even flagship models), so this power bank is definitely one that is best suited for iPhone owners. Although the power bank can technically act as a regular wireless charger without a phone, its ability to engage magnetically, without the need for its own magnets, has a large part that is a large part that is appropriate that the premium price tag ($ 99.99 / £ 79.99 / AU $ 129.95) is appropriate.
When charging wirelessly, the power bank has two speeds. It uses 7.5W charging when used as a standalone power bank, but that output is placed on 15W when it is plugged into the main power and for example, use it as a charging stand.
While fast charging speeds are all craze these days, many flagship devices offer 125W speed with a wired connection, in practice I charged 15W wireless very fast. When your phone becomes inactive during charging, you can expect 10% battery benefit in the first five minutes. While charging slow, I was able to fully charge my iPhone 15 in an hour from about 20%. However, keep in mind that, when plug in, Belkin still slows down to 7.5W if it is charging two devices simultaneously (a wireless, a wired).
When plugged into a wall outlet, you can use it in passthrough mode, and it continues to continuously consistently to the full 15W wireless charging speed, and recharges both the phone and itself.
In the use of the real world, I found the capacity of 10,000mAh incredibly useful with my iPhone 15 (which has approximately 3,349 mAh battery), as it can provide only under three complete recharge. This will clearly vary depending on your phone, but iPhones often have a smaller battery capacity compared to the best Android handset, even a battery capacity of about 4,685mAh with Monster iPhone 16 Pro Max.
For comparison, the capacity of 5,000mAh is about the expected size for middle-range Android phones. For that capacity or more equipment, this power bank will provide only two or less recharge, which means that you will need to be more careful about keeping the charge to ensure that it is ready when you need it.
Fortunately, it is easy to see the bank’s current battery level. A button on the side activates four LEDs, clearly reflects the remaining battery level (25%, 50%, 75%or 100%). It usually takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to recharge the empty belkin using 20W wall charger. The unit gets hot during wireless charging for a long time, especially if you use your phone at the same time, but it was never uncomfortable.
Although it will not offer several complete recharge for large, electric-hungry devices, its actual value lies in its spontaneous 15W magnetic charging feature-you are the owner of an iPhone 12 or new and it makes a luxurious pick and it gives importance to the ability to continue using your device even when low on the battery.
However, if you need a large capacity power bank for many full charges, or are looking for a more budget -favorable option without magnetic or wireless charging, other equipment can be a better fit.
This special family of Belkin Power Banks is also available in 5,000mAh and 8,000mAh variants, which cost $ 59.99 / £ 49.99 / AU $ 99.95 and $ 79.99 / £ 69.99 / AU $ 109.95.
Belkin Bustcharge Magnetic Power Bank with QI2 review: Capacity and output testing capacity
For capacity and output testing, I handed over my colleague to Belkin Boostcharge, who placed it through some deep benchmarks. Wireless charging efficiency depends on the device that is being charged, but it was generally excellent. For wired phone charging, we were able to get 30Wh (out of 37wh), which is about 81% – a proper but standout not efficiency.
The power bank is rated for 20W output at 9V (equipment such as phone is used when charging) and can supply it, but not for a continuous period. In the test, it can keep only 20W (9V 2A) wired charging for 15Wh (about 50%of its capacity) before leaving at a slow 5V/10W output.
Charging the power bank was taken 32Wh, which is less than 37Wh rated capacity. This shows that Belkin has opted for a conservative approach to cell management, not the user has a full rated capacity. Although it does not change that it fixes the phone and other devices properly, it is still slightly less result considering the premium price.
