I have rely on power stations for outdoor shoots and location work in the last one year as they eliminate battery concern and bridget the gap between the studio and location setup. With Power 2000, DJI elevates the power station with a high -capacity unit with a user -friendly design and tight integration with their ecosystem. Is it worth adding to your gear?
DJI is synonymous with drone and gym, but for some time, they have been active in portable power space, Power 1000 And Power 500Going into this niche seems to be like an easy professional case study: DJI has experience with designing batteries and battery management systems for use in challenging scenarios such as drones, as well as they are well considered for their ability to make complex electronics accessible to broader audiences.
With new DJI Power 2000The company is building on those powers. The unit sits at the top of its power lineup, which has immense potential of 2,048 WH and has features that feel well adapted to a fashion photographer for all from a natural documentary videographer, which sees to install lights on an NYC corner. Similarly, the Phantom series of drones made advanced drone technology accessible to all, the DJI power line is also ready to do the same for high-end portable power. After spending some time in the field and in the studio, I can say that it is one of the best thoughtful power stations I have used, especially for those who have already invested in the DJI ecosystem.

first impressions
Outside the box, DJI Power 2000 has come to expect consumers of the 2000 clean and high -tech design language from DJI. It is a dense, solid unit, which weighs about 50 pounds, but makes the integrated handle and well -balanced weight manageable to move it around a location or lift it in the car.
There is a sheer variety of ports on the front panel. DJI has equipped Power 2000 to virtually a manufacturer can be used to handle any device. You get four standard AC outlets, four USB-A ports (24 W each), and four powerful USB-C port (two on 140 W and two on 65 W), so that they are able to fast-make MacBook Pro, Gaming Laptop or Drone. For more special requirements, even 30 A NEMA plugs, which is perfect for providing strength to RV’s equipment. Overall, this selection of standard ports is very useful and the material seems to be more sewn to the creators than some common power station products reviewed, with additional high-wattage USB-C ports
From the front, there are really unique ports of two proprietary SDC ports, about which I will talk more in a moment. Together, this selection of ports ensures that you can easily power a medium -sized production (3 kW drawing) from a box or simply never need to worry about swaping around the cords in your RV or campsite.
Power and performance
The power 2000 has a 2,048 who is a lifepo4 battery. This battery chemistry trades a bit of energy density for great enlarged safety and longevity. DJI gives a battery rate for 4,000 cycles while maintaining 80% capacity, which translates about 10 years of daily use. When you remember that 4,000 cycles also go crazy, it is referring to the capacity of 2 kwh, which means that casual users draw a hundred watts a day, many, many years battery go before a laudable decline in life.
For reference, 2 kwh is sufficient to give strength to the demand load for an extended period. This is enough to recharge your laptop about 20 times, power 300 W of video light for the entire shoot day, or keep the portable fridge on for about two days. Meanwhile, with a continuous output of 3,000 W, Power 2000 can place with heavy loads at all available outlets, effectively offer the current value of two North American residential circuit breakers.
In use and when in recharging, power 2000 is very quiet. While recharging from a wall outlet at 1,800 W (from 0–80% in less than an hour), fans have been rated at less than 30 dB. In practice, it is far more calm than a domestic refrigerator – a big advantage on the set or on a noise gas generator in a remote natural landscape.
Ecosystem
While Power 2000 is an excellent power station for any user, its integration in the DJI ecosystem via SDC ports makes it special for drone pilots. Using a dedicated SDC-to-drain charging cable, you can rapidly charge the DJI drone battery at an unprecedented speed. For a Mavik 3, this means that you can charge battery from 10% to 95% in just 32 minutes.
You can essentially recharge a battery as fast as you can fly through one. Instead of bringing several batteries for the timeleps session or a heavy day of shooting, you can save your kit light and even on the drone battery. Remember, however, drone batteries still need to cool down appropriately after both use and charging so that they maintain their health!
This feature alone helps stand out of competitive products in Power 2000 alone in this fast crowded location. And when I am not a fan of proprietary ports or standards, there is no way around the requirement of self-creating standard here. Fortunately, DJI has shown that they are continue to support the standard by launching New SDC Cable At reasonable prices, sitting around $ 20 with the adapter, even for new cables for Mavik 4 and enterprise-grade drones.
At home
Power 2000 utility location extends well beyond the shoot. In the studio or only at home, it acts as a high quality uninterrupted power supply (UPS). Over time of 10 MS switchover, within the 16 MS ATX specification for the computer, it can original your editing rigs, NAS, or other hardware through power flicker or full outage. Given its vast capacity and output capacity, you can run several high-power workstations for one hour or more than just 15 minutes on the traditional lead-acid ups.
Internal components are also created for reliability. When I did not tear my unit, I have seen a breakdown from others who reveal widespread safety such as protective pottings on elements, DJI has claimed itself a nano-koting on circuit boards to oppose moisture and condensation. It is just a part of DJI’s “eight-fold security”, which combines a smart BMS with 26 temperature sensors, 21 underlying fuses, flame-retardant materials and naturally safe LFP cell chemistry.
The fellow app is well thought out. It is clean, simple, and provides clear insight into the charge level, input/output wattage per port, and the remaining runtime. Although it may not have granular, power-user features of some contestants (such as time-use charging), it is still a powerful tool. I am confident that I can hand over the app to a non -parlackical family member and they will immediately understand how to use it. I have great confidence in DJI’s software development and deployment processes, giving their long history of developing more complex apps for mobile platforms.
No product is correct, however, and power is a small bizarre in 2000. While it supports solar charging, it requires a separate Solar panel adapter moduleThis module works well, but it is an additional purchase that tightens the screws with an inlet hanging cord on the edge of the unit. Otherwise in smooth and integrated design, it seems like a compromise compared to competitors that directly form a solar input controller in chassis. I think solar may not be a core focus, especially for 2 kwh battery packs (which will take hours to charge from a large bank of solar panels), but still, it is a bit cumbersome.
final thoughts
DJI Power is a very enabled flagship for the portable power line of 2000 DJI. It is a top-level unit with excellent capacity, output and charging speed-all are wrapped in user-friendly packages. For any material manufacturer, it is a great device that should completely eliminate power anxiety at location or location in nature even when it is off-grind.
If you are already investing in DJI drones, power 2000 becomes even more compelling, especially compared to competitive stations. The SDC Fast-Charging Port holds it with a feature above other units that they may not just match.
DJI Power 2000 B&H is now available for purchase, as well as Power 1000 And Power 500,
