Google’s Pixel 10 devices will use yet-unannounced MediaTek modems

According to a new report, Google is testing it pixel 10 Prototype with MediaTek modem, namely T900. Google’s recent Pixels have all had Samsung Exynos modems, as their Tensor SoCs were practically adapted Samsung chipsets.

But next year’s Tensor G5 will be a completely Google design, expected to be manufactured by TSMC. And so the company may very well switch to a different modem provider – you might expect it to be Qualcomm, but apparently it will be MediaTek instead.

The MediaTek T900 modem hasn’t been announced yet, so we don’t really know anything about it. That means it’s impossible to predict how good it will be or how it will compare to Qualcomm’s latest and greatest.

Hopefully Google didn’t choose it simply because it was potentially cheaper than Qualcomm’s – we’re assuming that based on countless rumors about flagship chipsets, where MediaTek always seems to undercut its rival in terms of pricing. Is. However, only time will tell.
