The easiest way to protect your gear is to invest in a quality camera bag with a lot of padding. In a pinch, you can also use your clothes as wrapped, but again, you want to pay extra attention to how you are packing things, and it should be used as the last remedy.

Individual airlines may have their own rules, however, and budget airlines often have much strict in what they allow.
