Talk to Petpixel Earlier this month, at the NAB show in Las Vegas, Nikon said that its purpose is 50 Nikkor Z lenses on the market till the next spring. This hope gives rise to this question, now Nikon’s Z -system is missing? What and what needs photographers (and videographer)?
“The major turn of our mirrorless camera system can be limited to three objects: one, one, Z9 Released on December 2021, two ZfC And ZfThey launch unique products, and the third lens is the variety, IKEGAGE, Senior Executive Vice President and General Manager of Imaging Business Unit in Nikon, told Petpixel,
Ekgami continued, given that Nikon now has 46 lenses in its lineup, a highly impressive achievement that the original Nikon Z6 and Z7 cameras were launched with only three lenses in 2018. Nikon has since average about seven new lenses, which IKAGAGGI has described as “remarkable”.
“We aim to expand our lens lineups, which uses the mount benefits that meet the purposes of various requirements and a wide range of customers. And in terms of future expansion, our goal is to increase the number of lens to more than 50 by the end of this financial year.” For reference, 2025 Japanese financial year ends on 31 March 2026. Nikon has some work to hit its goal, but it is perfectly obtained at the company’s current pace.
Looking at Nikon Nikkor jade lens catalogThere are not many intervals – but there are some that should work to address Nikon (and can already be).
Fast, comprehensive Prime
Nikon’s widest Nikkor is not Z Prime lens, which is not really Nikkor z 20 mm f/1.8SWhile a very good lens, many photographers, especially interested in astrophotography, are eager to see some broad release to Nikon.
Nikon’s lineup also has a proper desire for a rapidly wide -angled prime lens. The company recently released Nikkor Z 35 mm F/1.2S And Nikkor z 35 mm f/1.4 Prime lenses, which provide incredible performance and strong values, respectively. However, Nikon has no comprehensive lenses with F/1.4 or sharp aperture in the current Nikon Z System.
The company’s magnificent F Mount Mount Lens offers inspiration, Nikon’s engineers can be attracted, including the popular AF-S Nikkor 24 mm F/1.4G ED and AF-S Nikkor 28 mm F/1.4 Ed Prime. Nikon can do a better and can go for 20 mm f/1.4 or even 16 mm f/1.8 for Nikon Z cameras. Both are realistic, attainable goals. Heck is excellent in sigma Art 14 mm F/1.4 DG DN The lens, which is not available from despair to Z Mount.
Special lens: Fish and Tilt-Shift (perspective control)
Nikon’s legendary F Mount System, which was used by the company in various recurrents began in 1959, had a lot of time to grow and expand. It is a little surprising that several special lenses were released for F Mount SLR and DSLR cameras, including various fish and tilt-shift-or “personnel control”, which are in Nicon’s Parlance-lens.
Nikkor Z is some attractive members in the family, including Nikkor Z 58mm F/0.95 S and many unusual telephoto lenses such as super-fast Prime. Nikkor Z 400 mm F/4.5 VR S, Nikkor Z 600 mm F/6.3 VR S, Nikkor Z800 mm F/6.3 VR SAnd this Nikkor Z 180-600 mm F/5.6-6.3 VRBut it has no separate “characteristic” lens.
This is not a specific nicon deficiency in mirrorless age. Contestants are not getting either fish or tilt-shift lenses with some exceptions. It is an area where Nikon excellently performed in the DSLR era, and may also dominate Mirrorless. The company’s AF-S Fisheye Nikkor 8-15mm F/3.5-4.5E ED is a wild lens that can be rebuilt for a modern hybrid manufacturer today. Nikon’s PC lens including 19 mm and 45 mm primes gave great enthusiasm to macro and architectural photographers. While the FTZ adapter is present, there is no option for a new native lens made from the ground to avail wide-domat, short-flowing Nikkor Z Mount.
DX, where are you?
While the first two segments focus on lens catering for a high-end, professional audience, what about early and entry level shooters using Nikon’s APS-C cameras? The Nikkor Z system has only a few APS-C lenses, all “kits” lenses and all-in-people, except except Nikkor Z DX 24 mm F/1.7.
Nikon’s current Dx Nikkor Z is nothing wrong with Z lens, and there is no question that the overall photography has moved to the market, mainly the full-frame reduces the relative popularity of APS-C cameras within the Nikon Z system. He said, it is difficult to miss the days of high-end APS-C Nicon DSLR like Nikon D300 and D500 and Nikon AF-S DX 17-55 mm F/2.8G ED-IF and AF-S DX Nikkor 35 mm F/1.8G high-end dex lenses.
For Nikon Mirrorless DX shooters, to obtain high quality optics, they need to use full-frame lenses, which reduce the benefit of the relative size of small, light APS-C cameras. Originally, now the situation is that APS-C photographers either need to compromise in terms of image quality, or sacrifice related to the size of their kit. It would be optimal to get both the best world.
Something completely new
So far, the possibilities are mostly inspired by the existing F Mount Lens, who have not yet jumped Nikkor Z, whether it is in one-to-one upgrade or just a lens that provides the same functionality. Many of the other F-mount lenses have not jumped yet-but extraordinary Nikon 105 mm F/1.4 Ed or long disc-S-S Nikkor 200 mm F/2G II Ed, like a great lens, like a great lens, which is still loved today.
However, as Nikon has already performed with his Z lens, Nikkor Z Mount enables all new optical designs and lenses with no F Mount analog. It would be a shame to keep Nikon’s optical engineers in a box, so it is completely possible that the company hits its 50-lens target with a completely unique lens that is almost impossible to imagine-until they are not. Lens technology has been quite upgraded in recent years, companies have created optics that were not long ago.
Given the shock acquisition of Nikon of Nikon last year and new Nikkor Z 28-135 mm F/4 PZ Lens Earlier this year, it is also possible that Nikon’s focus will be on hybrids or even video-first lenses to help out the Nikkor Z system. A wide-angle pZ lens may be understood too much, as some existing Nikkor can be in the form of video-un-oriented versions of Z lenses, which Sigma sometimes does with her zoom lens.
However, it is uncertain as to what will release Nikon 50 lens to hit its target by next March, it is undoubtedly true that whatever lenses are issued between now and again, Nikon Z owners have a lot to be excited to look even further.
