“I was initially uncertain about taking the project, thinking that my parents can encourage a more conservative, traditional approach that we usually embrace,” says Gabriel Yuri. “But after some conversation, it became clear that he was ready to trust us in whatever approach they decide to take.”
This material duality – black protective shell and light interior – return through both Japanese and Scandinavian design traditions. Nevertheless, in this remote place, two hours west of Denver, these effects turn into some specific Americans. The designer emphasized protection rather than demolition, allowing the original geometry to remain, but instead the rearring, expanded and opened to frame specific ideas of Rocky Mountains.
Southern glazing and strategically the skylights placed passive solar energy, while modular, adaptable spaces adjust family functions. Slate flagstone floors that extend from indoors to outside, dissolve the same boundaries, forming a place that connects to its surroundings. The integration of the ureuri of built-in furniture using the same white oak in the form of floors, walls and ceilings creates an overall environment where furniture becomes architecture and vice versa.
“The height and foresight of the site were all challenges with the short -construction period (essentially in the early November),” Yuri said, “These were all challenges.
