When it comes to tiles, are you in the camp that consider them purely beauty or completely functional? There is no shortage of beautiful tiles – ceramic, marble, terrazo, concrete – but beyond connecting visual interest and protecting walls and surfaces, they are not usually considered all utilitarians. It was before the studio in Paris Unknown, untitled Pur: UU tilesA collection where ceramic tiles can double as functional hooks and minimal wall lamps, also standing out silently even while combining tiling.
Originally launched as a research project, UU tiles developed in a fully developed collection in collaboration with a historical Normandy tile manufacturer. What are these tiles – and what they can be challenged pre -perceptions about what they can be. Instead of giving in the tendency of mobility and flexibility, where the design may occur and it is encouraged, swapped as required, unknown, untolded leans using the definite nature of tiling as an opportunity to build in the function, in the stability of durability.
The collection includes three components: plain tiles, ceramic hooks and ceramic wall lamps, each of which share the same tile-based attachment system. Due to their similar dimensions and tanwala options, functional tiles are beautifully mixed with decorative people, the studio “a physical interface between architecture and living space”. Whether you are hanging a coat or bringing a hallway to light, the tile remains stable, a cool but intentional design in detail.
Even as a standalone object, hooks and lights are a delightful manifestation of color and form. The look is clean, minimal and unexpectedly warm, with shiny surfaces that reflect both light and intentions. Each option is available in different types of colors.
The idea of permanent storage and lighting may seem a scare. After all, swaping the tiles is slightly more labor-intensive than changing a lamp or hook, but this durability can be a good thing. It invites a more thoughtful approach to the design, a one that gives importance to longevity and encourages us to consider the limited ability of the Earth to absorb its extra. In a world where lots of finish, there is something quietly radical that is designed to do the previous something.
Both lamps and hooks can be used as pieces of standalone without empty tiles for a minimal look.
