Charles Payne: The truth about tariffs and history is missing many critics

For decades, the use of tariffs was considered a smart economic step for domestic producers to protect American entrepreneurship and markets.

They were in place as the US had crossed the Great Britain as a major nation and economy in the world in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

They were during Roaring Twentyes-first by the Emergency Tariff Act of 1920 and then by the Fordny-Mackkumber Act of 1931.

The mythological economist says that Trump’s tariffs can play ‘destructive history’ again

So why are they wandering now, especially by orthodox economists?

Five words: Smut-Havle Tariff Act.

The 1929 accident is credited incorrectly to prolong market recession and economic loss and convert it into great depression.

Kevin O’Leeri defended Trump Tariffs, calling for a 400% increase on China to ‘level the playground’.

Yes, it played a role, but the mythological proportion was no longer accepted.

In fact, after a brief initial spike, the US tariff rate continued to decrease.

A major issue was that Tariff’s popularity in the Congress transferred Smut-Hawale from protecting American farmers to protect everything under the sun-it was very widespread.

Other issues in the 1930s

The Federal Reserve increased the supply of funds by 62%from 1921 to 1928, while at the same time, the bank deposited climbed 51%and the reserves of life insurance companies rose to 114%.

The Fed panicked and started hiking rates to slow down all that cash and triggered the 1929 stock market accident.

They got nervous about it and maintained hiking rates after the accident.

Making cases worse, President Herbert Hoover increased the government’s expenses by 42% from 19230 to 1932 for a series of programs including action plans.

President Franklin enters Delano Roosevelt, whose spending plans included two new deals. He did not prevent the economy from falling further, but changed the stock market.

Political fall

I find it interesting to talk about how many tariffs in GOP have studied history well.

I think the problem the problem he is best knows about smooth-hole was a political result rather than real economic damage.

The Act also influenced the political career of two men behind it. Oregon’s rape willis Haley lost his renomination, while Utah’s read Smut 12 was one of the 12 Republican Senators, who lost their seats in the 1932 elections, with Democrats the biggest swing in the history of the Senate, equal in 1958 and 1980.
