Users in South Korea have begun to receive a UI 7 update stable on devices including the Galaxy S24 series, Z fold 6, Z Flip 6, and Z fold special editions. As the update land on more phones, full Changelogs are also visible. The first of these foldable-specific upgrades is an auto-hide taskbar. When users open an app on the main screen of Z fold, the taskbar now automatically disappears, giving more space for the app material. A slow swipe brings it back from under the screen. This is a subtle change that should help in better advantage of large displays of folds.
The second feature improves the app of my files with a new column scene designed for the larger screen. When used on a fold or tablet, the app now displays additional file information, such as preview, size, modified date and full file path, to the right of the screen.
These characteristics are currently limited to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Fold Special Edition. However, they expect to make their way for old foldable models like Z Fold 5, Z Fold 4, and Z Fold 3 in the next few months according to the rollout schedule. In particular, we have not yet received our hand on the US rollout schedule for a UI7, but it should not vary much more than the Korean schedule.
Outside the foldables, a UI 7 provides a wide range of enhancement in the Galaxy ecosystem. Updates include helping, call transcription and new Galaxy AI Tools for smart content suggestions. Google Gemini can now be launched by pressing the side button for a long time and it works with notes, calendars and reminders such as Samsung app. Samsung has also introduced a fresh design, better camera features, enhanced lock screen customization and better health and accessibility tools.
