Text details provided by architects. Oak Grove Park is located at the center of the neighborhood, a modernist housing in Clipda, Lithuania. In 2021 revived, the park has become a favorite place for the local people. It provides two different regions: for an active holiday, with sports areas, exercise features and playgrounds, and for another cool relaxation, where people can read under trees, can gather in small places, or feed birds from the pond. These areas are connected to a circular route – exactly for walking, cycling or rollerblading.
Oak Grove Park shows how public space renewal can stimulate large -scale housing regeneration. Most of the urban population of Lithuania are in such wealth, including the Rampaizak district in the clip. Buced in the 1970s, this neighborhood, apartment buildings around Oak Grove Park, was designed. In the last 50 years, without renewal, both the neighborhood and its public places have deteriorated physically, blind and socially. Since these housing estates are privately owned, renewal is slowly. Thus, municipalities can have the most important impact on improving the quality of life of residents by increasing public places.
In 2015, the Urbanist Studio “Pupa / Life Over Space” developed an urban vision for the neighborhood, focusing on reviving courtyard and public places including Vaidila Square and Oak Grove Park funded by the European Union support. Public participation through presentations, discussions and workshops helps to identify the needs of the residents and test various scenarios, which lead to well -chosen design options. The design of the Oak Grove Park responds to the various requirements of its residents. On one side of the park is a vibrant, active area with playgrounds, fitness zones and playgrounds for children and adolescents. The other side provides a more calm environment, which consists of ponds with local bird life, benches with sunlight or shaded islands, and flower beds. A continuous loop path for cycling and walking connects small pathways and recreational locations, curved between old oak trees and nearby apartment buildings. This loop has become a favorite place for residents, not only as a place to exercise, but also to meet their neighbors, see and meet people.
Located in one of the most dense areas of Clipda, the Oak Grove Park is surrounded by blocks with high concentration of elderly residents and single-person homes. Thus, making places where people could meet and socialization was necessary. The primary goal in designing public places was to promote an environment that encourages people to join, spends more time out, and leads a healthy, more active life.
Finally, oak grove park shows how thoughtful public space renewal can breathe new life in the aging urban neighborhood. By creating spaces for both active leave and peaceful relaxation, the park promotes social interaction, promotes healthy lifestyle, and enhances the quality of life for residents of all ages. Its revision serves as a model to change Lithuania and beyond the same housing wealth.
