Continuing its line of bringing unique and inexpensive new glass options for the film production community, Lava is launching a new set of lens with a very specific skill set.
If you are a photographer or filmmaker, you have probably heard of the tilt-shift lens. Especially the standard in the kit of architectural photographers, but useful for many applications, the tilt-shift lenses allow you to tilt and move the image well, bend and move. With respect to the “inclination” part of that name, using the tilt function can shift the focus aircraft of a lens. Generally, the light travels through a lens in a linear fashion – rigid. So your focus plane is parallel to your camera sensor. Thus, everything looks normal. If you use a tilt-shift lens, you can tilt the image so that your focus plane is at one angle. One of the more popular applications is shots where you can make the real world look like this toy is made of miniatures. Similarly, you can use the technique to achieve low traditional focus effects that can attract your audience.
The “shift” function of the tilt-shift lens operates separately. In this case, the lens is truly transferred to one direction or another to change your physical perspective. To do this, the lens must be able to casting a comprehensive image circle than a normal lens. Then, the operator will decide to shift the lens to one direction or another, effectively moving around which image the camera is capturing without carrying the camera. A general use of this will be a photographer who is trying to capture the image of a long building. However, the lens can be used as a shift lens along with standard prime based on your use of your use.

The lens circle is.265.2 mm, allowing it to be used on a variety of sensors. Especially for large format users, it can make it an attractive option. The lens can also draw double duty in its base settings as both lens and standard Prime. The minimum focus of a minimum of 20 mm is focused on the minimum focusing distance of 20 mm.
It is important to pay attention, it does not include the set, but it shifts. It is the type of lens that you use very specific purpose. What kind of purpose, can you ask? Well, the most natural application, which will be in situations where architecture is important – either as an architectural film or in a narrative work where the environment around your subject plays an important role. Lenses are capable of shifting plus or minus 11 mm to help correct convergence lines and maintain deformation-free architecture.
For example, suppose your name is Ves Anderson. And suppose your visual approach fully emphasizes the compositions. It is necessary to have a completely correct perspective. Similarly, suppose you are not He Wes Anderson. Instead, you are Vesley Anderson, who is an architectural videographer of Des Moines, and you are currently employed to shoot footage of newly re -designed city halls. Shift functionality may be a game changer for your approach.
Personally, I think one of the most complicated options is that this lens should be used to in-shot short dolly moves. The shift of the lens is controlled by the closest ring of the camera body. You first determine the direction of your shift by rotating the lens in the appropriate position. You can choose several options from 0 to 360 degrees. So, for my example, assume that what I want to do begins on a certain two-shot of James and Janet Center frame. Later in the scene, a punchline suggests that a third person, John, is sitting out of the frame to the left side of the Janet. I could put the camera on something like grain dolly or slider to make lateral steps for the camera at the end of the scene. But in doing so, I can accidentally affect the situation by paning or tiling without any notice. Instead, if I probably set my shift ring at 270 degrees, rotate the shift ring on cue, I can effectively shift the perspective to the side to include John in the shot. Of course, there is a highly simplified example. I could shift up and down or diagonally. And the lens can be used to shift between many different subjects.
Another useful task for this lens will be in the plate or panoramic view. Instead of the need to slide right or left, in the perspective, putting a potential slight change in perspective, which will stitch two images simultaneously, you can simply lock the camera instead, then use a shift function to include a wider area – from the left, from the top to the bottom. Then without a change in perspective to create a high resolution final image to sew those images in the post simultaneously. The possibilities are huge.
In terms of sharpness, I found that the lens should be well until the work. In this example, I have moved the lens to the side. When the lens is in an offset position, I have not seen any important drop-off in image quality.
To ensure this, shift lenses are specific to a certain type of filmmaker or photographer. Not everyone needs one in their kit. But the unique abilities of this lens and lava execution suggest that it should consider a strong fare on your next project that asks for a more accurate structure within the frame.
