K&F Concept 60 “Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod Review

The camera world has become saturated with third-party gear over the years, and there is no exception with a tripod. Compared to more traditional large-name brands, some of these third-party tripods are quite inexpensive-including carbon fiber models. But how do they perform? Today, I will review one of them in the hope of answering that question: K & F concept 60 ″ C225C0 carbon fiber travel tripod.

Introduction and facilities

K & F 60 ″ Travel Tipi is a lean travel tripi that weighs just 1.01 kg and reaches a maximum height of maximum 1.5 m (60 ″). It also becomes very small – see below comparison with the popular peak design travel tripi.

The K&F concept is also tightly sewn than 60 ″ (left) peak design model (right).

Therefore, it is not designed as a full tripod solution, but a mild compromise when you have to pack light.

K&F concept 60 ″ C225C0 has twist locks in the feet. I like this style on a flip lock. The angle of the legs can be adjusted and locked with a push-pull button system that works quite well. One of the legs has a foam sleeve that makes it easy to move around the tripod in cold weather – good touch. As the journey is distinctive with tripod, there are five legs sections.

The center column is a tube that is locked (also with a twist lock) and an additional section, which means that an important part of the height of this trippai comes from the expanded center column. Without the center column, the maximum height of the tripod is just 1.2 m (47 inches).

One of the legs is separated to make monopods. You can put a ballhead directly on it, and it makes a monopod that spreads just below my chest. Apparently, some people have got luck to attach the center column to create a large monopod, but I did not get it to work. He said, “Another feature of the center column to work well, reverse it on the tripod for mixed shooting.

Finally, I like Orange and Black Design. Not everyone will care about this, but it looks good.

The Ballhead

Despite a lower price of $ 100, the tipi comes with a ballhead. Since photographers constantly interact with their ballheads, it is often suggested to buy their tripod and head separately to achieve the optimal version of both. I mostly agree.

He said, the ballhead coming with K&F 60 ″ is not bad. It has a smooth panoramic locking base with angle measurements, and a single level that should make panorama easier. It has an Arca-SWISS plate system that is mostly ARCA-SWISS-although I found that the plates did not fit in the Arca-SWISS receptac of my peak design journey tripi, even though other Arca-SWISS plates.

Of course, it is easy to take off the ballhead and replace it with any other head. I attached my Oben Be-177t without problems.

Strength

The main strength of K&F travel tripi is its lightweight weight. You can really take it with you anywhere. Thus, if you are not a heavy trippai user, but you sometimes find yourself a trippai, K&F 60 ″ is a good solution.

It is also really small. The foot bends backwards above the column of the center, and once it turns completely, it comes for only 35 cm (13.8 ″). I appreciated its small size when I moved a group of other gears in the area.

I also found this tipi stunning the price and size. Its small nature naturally gives it some flex when it is fully expanded, but it is quite solid when kept close to the ground. I found that there was no problem even in the expansion of the most thick foot classes.

The ballhead also feels stronger than decency, and the ball is closed when enough tightening. Not as much as a high-end ballhead, pay attention to you, but it is enough that there was no excessive dropping with moderate weight cameras. The head comes with a small pocket that comes with a good carrying bag that can be used to store tightening devices.

Weaknesses

As something can be estimated, there is going to be some compromise in a $ 100 trippai. What are they?

My main thoughts go to the center column. It is spherical and there are locks in place with a twist lock similar to toe locks. The biggest idea is not, because the lock is so close to the legs that it is very difficult to get a grip on the lock and tighten it before a certain point.

Center is correct on the tightening knob of the column

Also, if I applied a strong force, I can still spin the column even when it is “locked”. I never had any problem with it in the field, but it could stop you to hang your camera upside down for less-angle shoots. And it speaks on issues of general stability in adverse conditions.

I would also say that, although the construction of this tipi is good, a more expensive trippai like my peak design travel tripi is more strong, especially when it comes to the center column and overall leg flex. I think this is just an agreement to decide. After all, the cost of K & F 60 ″ is six times less.

In addition, K & F 60 ″ feet are made of a hard plastic instead of soft rubber with grip. I did not find external uses to have a problem, but they slide a little on the polish floor.

who is it for?

I really look at K&F Concept 60 The Travel Tippai for mild and timely use. It is being transported from place to place quickly while not taking too much space. Stability at full height is not the strength of this trippai, but this does not mean that it is a bad option for all situations.

For example, I could definitely see myself by using this tripi to record outdoor videos on hiking with my Panasonic G9. A little less stable trippai does not worry me for videography, while it can still be for photography. You can also consider such a tripod in your car to use in a pinch, or take it to a hike where you are trying to save as much weight as possible.

He said, you have to consider the weight of your gear. This tripod has a load capacity of 8 kg. And although it is strong enough to support a decent volume of weight to ensure, its small size and small legs I think it would be best suited for load of 1 kg (2.2LBS) or less.

And, like all small travel tripods, working with K&F travel tripi will be slightly less comfortable as it is the maximum height of 152cm (60 ″). It is just a tradeoff to use such a small trippai, but if you are long then it is to keep in mind.

conclusion

K & F Concept 60 ″ Travel Tipi is a decent, light trippai that is suited to those who sometimes require a tripod on their journey with light cameras, and who do not want to move around a large tripod. This is strong until the situation is very rigid, and is a good option for the price.
