Singer Scotty McCreery ejects concertgoer who allegedly punched woman – National


Country singer Scotty McCreery stopped his concert at Colorado State Fair to Pueblo Saturday night to arrest a man he said he saw hitting a woman in the crowd.

McCreery, a former American Idol The winner said the violence was “absolutely unacceptable” and asked security to evacuate the spectator.

The altercation began just seconds after McCreery began his song It matters to her. Although he had only sung a few words, McCreery stopped, pointed into the crowd and shouted to an audience member, “Hey, that’s a lady you just hit, mister!”

The band stopped playing their instruments as the crowd began to boo them.

“Absolutely not. You just hit the lady,” the former said American Idol the winner continued.

McCreery, 30, called police and security to intervene.

The singer then told the man who allegedly hit the woman to “get the hell out of here.”

“On God’s green earth. At a Scotty McCreery concert, what are you doing?” the singer asked incredulously. “You’re going to tell the cop who hit the lady because that’s absolutely unacceptable.”


Others in the crowd pointed and shone their phone flashlights at the defendant.

There was a minute of confusion in the crowd before McCreery asked, “Did we get him? Are you okay?”

“Whoever you are, hitting a woman is the very definition of a coward,” he said. “Get out of here, brother.”

McCreery then continued his performance as normal.

A video of the incident was shared online by several viewers.

The man who allegedly punched a woman in the crowd has not been publicly identified, and it is unclear whether he will be charged.

Olga Robak, communications director for the Colorado Department of Agriculture, confirmed the assault to People magazine. She said that “an incident occurred at the Scotty McCreery concert where a man attacked a woman and the artist stopped the show.

Robak said an investigation into the incident was underway.

McCreery, who has not made any public comments since his show ended Saturday, rose to fame after being named champion of American Idol Season 10 in 2011. He is best known for his country songs Five more minutes And That’s it. McCreery released his most recent album, titled Rise and fall, in May 2024.
