It seems that Google is still working on a new design for Pixel and other Android devices coming to its phone app, as another new UI has just surfaced.
As it stands today, the Google phone app – used on pixel devices, as well as Android phones from OnePlus, Motorola and other brands – shows an animated UI element that users can swipe to respond to the call coming, or swipe down to decline. It’s not Most The UI with intuitive knowledge, but the lesson shows how it works, and only one or two uses to hang it. Google, however, is trying to do something new behind the curtain.
The latest Google phone app hidden in update (v166.0.735169223), Android authority Spotted and enabled a new UI to respond to the phone call, which uses a left or right swipe gesture respectively, rejecting or answering the call respectively. A concentrated phone icon is one that is dragged in any direction to respond or reject the call.
It is not live in the new redesign phone app and must be able to manually show it in action. It is not clear whether Google has any plan to roll it widely, or even a test between users.
This is not the first time Google has tested a new UI to respond to the call. At the end of last year, Google was testing a new design with different “answer” and “fall” buttonsSimilar to Samsung devices and incoming call style seen in iOS. That design was never widely rolled, though.
