Text details provided by architects. Park slopes have a rich history of changes in this single-family new-class house that reflects its developed use. The goal of this project was to create a modern living place for a couple and their young daughter, paying tribute to some unique elements of the house.
The building was originally built in 1919. It was rebuilt in the 20th century, which served its diverse uses, including a doctor’s office and a bed and breakfast. To accommodate the mixed occupation of the building, most of the original external details were removed and several entrances were introduced. In the 1990s, the house passed through a major renovation, which restored the front front in its original state, to match his twin sister directly to the next door. Unfortunately, during that final renewal, the remaining original details inside the house were removed.
Instead of re -introducing the old details, the new beauty is modern and simple. The plenty walnut acts as an integrated element throughout the house, which brings heat and prosperity to minimal aesthetics. The expansion of walnuts is the most prominent on the first floor, where it originally infection in a curved railing that leads the living to the upper level of the house.
Given the small footprint of the house, storage was integrated into the corners and walls of millwork. A multi-functional piece of millwork was used to portray rooms on the first floor, which also serves as a pantry, closet, kitchen wardrobe and niche for the dining room bench. Additionally, the owners of the house have a comprehensive book collection that became a major design element throughout the house. On the first floor, a long book cupboard extends to almost the entire length of the house. It adds color and livelihood to space, but also takes the living room from the living room to the dining room, where it turns into a bench.
The existing opening on the back front was visually and physically enlarged to invite you to the attractive backyard garden, and enhance the relationship between the house and the garden.
The primary suite was re-designed to include a large dressing room adjacent to the primary walk-in closet, shower and wash closet. The primary bedroom was more solitary and removed from the road from the back of the house, and was reduced to size to provide a cozier environment. A new, large dormer was added to form a window bench in the primary bedroom that appears on the roof deck and its green greenery.
Brooklyn The studio closely collaborated with the interior design firm Jessie Paris-Lamb to ensure that our design style and character were aligned with their internal selection. The result is a harmonious aesthetics that enhances comfort and warmth, yet sophistication and elegance.
