Danielle Chiproot, founder of Danielle Rose Design Co., says she’s seeing textile-inspired tile designs creeping into homes and is excited about the development.
She points out that these designs come in many shapes and forms, from flowers to stripes, and appreciates their artistic look.
“These intricate details bring the warmth and beauty of the fabric to hard surfaces, turning backsplashes and floors into true focal points with depth, movement and personality,” says the designer.

plaid tile
Speaking of textile-inspired tile, plaid tile is “offering a timeless pattern with a fresh twist,” Chiproot says.
She explains that sometimes, a plaid design is printed onto a tile, while other times, the tiles are arranged in such a way that they create a plaid look.
“Plaid designs add structure and cool complexity to a space,” she says, noting that she appreciates the visual interest they add to any kitchen.

Say yes to flowers when you’re planning to redesign your kitchen.
Hand-painted floral tiles in particular are something that Chiproot says will reign supreme in 2026, noting that these designs “bring a layer of craftsmanship and romance that feels truly one-of-a-kind.”
Perfectly imperfect, these artistic tiles are a great way to add a personal touch to the kitchen, the designer explains, adding that they “fill the kitchen with a charming, put-together feel.”
a monochromatic look

Effortless Designs founder, Esther Allard, is eager to see more people adopting a monochromatic look in the kitchen next year by choosing kitchen tile in the same color and matching grout.
“It’s a subtle but bold design choice that can really elevate any kitchen,” she says.
And if you prefer neutrals, don’t worry—you can still embrace this trend, she explains.
“Think about a linen shaded tile with matching linen grout to give an aesthetic ambiance,” says Allard.
In this kitchen, we see an example of an all-white monochromatic look. That said, she’s also in favor of going bold, noting that a deep blue or deep purple moment can look beautiful.
mixed material
If you’re having trouble choosing between a material for your kitchen tile, you can actually go for a few without any fear – this look is definitely on trend.
Parul Ghee, co-founder of Studio Jai, believes that mixed materials, especially stone and ceramic combinations, will be a rage in 2026.
This aesthetic will “redefine the visual language of the kitchen”, she says. “The textures, tonal variations and imperfections of workmanship are what make a space truly feel alive.”
Craftsmanship and Character

Ghee says a focus on craftsmanship and character as it relates to kitchen tile will also be a key focus of 2026 designs.
“Clients want spaces that feel layered and personal, not just sophisticated and standard,” she says.
Thus, this means that textures and glossy finishes, earth tones and the like will be prominently in style. Allard agrees and says,
“We will see a lot more handmade, artisan tiles being chosen for luxury kitchens,” Allard says.
This will give a more perfect imperfect look. Pictured here is an example of the blue and white Zellige tile that adds a warm touch to this cooking area.
