Homeowner request. “We were hired to update the modern house between this 1969 farm-style, which went through the previous remodels and additions,” says designer Cattyin Wolf. “While those changes served their purpose at that time, they no longer reflected the original architectural integrity of the house. The owners of the house wanted a modern, functional location that honored the history of the house. Lava rock fireplace was a defined facility, and we immediately saw its ability as a focal point.

“Our solution was to streamline the design, introduce a more intentional layout and integrate vintage and modern elements to make a place that felt layered, lively and easily stylish.”

Special symptoms. “A major feature is a custom-made TV console from our ground floor furniture collection,” Volf says. “We designed it with teak wood veneer and included angles and depths to add angles and depths. The wooden heat beauty with the cool tones of the lava rock fireplace beauty with the cool tones, which forms a balance without competition.

“We decorated with vintage furniture and shop My Warehouse, mixing the ingredients and textures to reflect midscentory modern aesthetics.

Designer tip. “We have adopted the long and narrow shape of the living room by designing it like a hotel lobby,” says Wolf, making two separate seating areas that can work differently or merge when it is entertaining. ” “This approach maximizes both comfort and flexibility, ensuring that the space can be compatible with different needs. If you are working with a challenging layout, consider breaking the space into the zone instead of forcing a traditional setup.”

“Uh-oh” moment. “An unexpected challenge was working with the existing block walls, which made it difficult for electricity,” says Wolf. “Since we have planned to install an underlying media unit, we needed to integrate electricity for the TV while maintaining a spontaneous infection from the rough, uneven block for a smooth cabinet surface. Through a careful plan and craftsmanship, through careful plan and craftsmanship, our installers blamed the infection, and our electricians found creative ways to hide wiring.”
