Designer Leslie Ray says it’s time to say goodbye to the clean-cut look of white furniture and bring in more strategic color choices for a curated and comfortable home.
“Sheer white has become outdated because it doesn’t reflect the personality of the occupants,” says licensee Leslie Ray. “White is traditionally associated with minimalism and contemporary design, but now homeowners are more. Looking for warm colors and textures to create personalized and welcoming spaces.”

Navy is also included in the designers’ list of 2025 vintage furniture colors. Although considered a classic choice that is enjoying waves of popularity, the time has passed for navy, and designer Jack Gilby explains why:
“As more and more people move toward the growing trend of neutral, earthy colors, we see less interest in cool colors like gray, navy and white.”
Gilby says warm colors – like taupe, sage, beige and terracotta – create a relaxing and calming atmosphere in the home. Navy, on the other hand, invokes a sense of formality that is less demanded in design today.
