Week 19 of the 2025 CFL season is officially in the books, and the playoff picture looks pretty much the same as it did the last time we checked in.
The Edmonton Elks kept themselves alive with the win – and put away both the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Calgary Stampeders. Meanwhile, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats tote the bag and give the Montreal Alouettes hope of clinching the top seed. Only the Saskatchewan Roughriders finished the job, taking first place in the West.

1) BC Lions (1)
In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lions slept this week. The final bye of the season gave them a chance to get healthy as well as bask in the glow of a fourth consecutive win. Presumptive All-Star Jerrel Broxton is expected to return at left tackle after the break, while prized offseason addition DeJon Allen is set to return at right tackle after a lengthy injury layoff.
2) Montreal Alouettes (2)
Davis Alexander was reportedly dissatisfied with his output of passing for 240 yards, but the Alouettes did not need more to defeat the Redblacks. Marc-Antoine Decoy started things off by returning his own blocked punt for a major, and Austin Mack had one of his better days at the office this season with five catches for 87 yards and a touchdown. Montreal can enjoy its holiday bird, while being grateful to be one game behind Hamilton for first place.
3) Saskatchewan Roughriders (4)
Riders continue to take the phrase “They don’t ask how, they ask how many“Very literally, Earning a close win against an otherwise eliminated opponentLuckily, Sam Emilius had a big day with 142 yards passing, and troubled kicker Brett Lawther made all five of his field goals to ensure the win. This gave Saskatchewan first place and a home West final, However, head coach Corey Mays refused to bask in the celebration.,
4) Calgary Stampeders (7)
Stamps impressively descended from Schneid, Overtook the East Division leaders by several touchdownsVernon Adams Jr. avoided any turnovers for the first time in several weeks, while Dedrick Mills broke the ruck with 105 yards and two touchdowns. Add in the booking list of Adrian Greene and Derrick Moncrief, and Calgary is starting to look like its old self again.
5) Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3)
Who are the real Hamilton Tiger-Cats? After their second bad defeat in three weeks we are not sureKenny Lawler and Tim White still passed the century mark for Bo Levi Mitchell on a 300-yard afternoon, but the ground game was non-existent. Even more absent was the run defense, which allowed 211 yards rushing.
6) Edmonton Elks (6)
Positives: The Elks troubled the Raiders and Kept themselves in the race for playoffsNegative: They No attempt was made to secure a tiebreaker due to some questionable decisions at the end of the gameAnd we are still as far away from our goal as before. At least they can be satisfied that the result was entertaining, as Kordell Jackson played Johnny-on-the-spot by recovering his teammate’s bad punt for a touchdown, and Justin Rankin scored another game-breaking touchdown run.
7) Winnipeg Blue Bombers (5)
The Bombers came close in the end thanks to the uncanny play of Ontario Wilson, but Underperformed in their chance to close out the playoff bracketBrady Oliveira put himself in elite company with his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season, rushing for 147 combined yards, but Zach Collaros threw a pair of interceptions and finished with only 202 yards through the air. Fortunately, they managed to save the season series even in defeat.
8) Toronto Argonauts (8)
argos Kept it close and respectable against the CFL’s top teamEven though the result didn’t make the slightest difference. That doesn’t mean the loss wasn’t ugly in other ways, though, as Jarrett Doidge had to be carted back and forth between the field and the injury tent after hitting his head on the field three times. At least linebacker Isaac Darkangelo had a good day, totaling 13 tackles and a sack.
9) Ottawa Redblacks (9)
Dustin Crum’s sixth start of the season may have been his least impressive, as he only managed 162 yards passing and 36 yards rushing for another loss. The embarrassment in the defeat was further compounded when Zachary Fillion took a stunning onside kick straight to the back for a recovery early in the second half. The only thing the Redblacks have going for them right now is that they need just one more loss to clinch the first overall pick in the 2026 CFL Draft.
