In 2024, products were invested in products with both standard and smart technology, and in fact preferred smart techniques in many product categories. Light fixtures topped the list of indoor product procurement at 51%, with 38% renewal of home owners and select 13% options for smart versions. TVS selected for 16% standard TV and 11% smart after 27%.
Alarm and detector (14% standard, 12% smart) and thermostats (7% standard, 16% smart) were also in demand. Wireless doorbell cameras (16%), streaming-media players (10%), home assistant (14%) and garage doors led smarter versions for openers (8%). And among smart security products, homeowners chose wireless door lock (8%), camera (9%) and speed or other sensors (5%).
Smart security cameras led the outdoor take purchases at 23%, followed by standard outdoor lighting fixtures (not shown) at 23%.
