YouTube Music adds ‘Samples’ to artist pages as a new way to discover songs

in 2023YouTube Music launched the “Samples” feed as a “personalized music discovery feature”, and can now be accessed from artist pages.

Samples, which is the app’s second tab, shows “a feed of short-form video segments to lead you to your new favorite music.” It is clearly inspired by YouTube Shorts in terms of user interface and experience.

Powered by the world’s largest catalog of music videos, this personalized feed will explore the depth and breadth of the YouTube Music library so there’s always something new to listen to, whether it’s the latest release from an emerging artist or a legacy artist from a deeper vein. Cut from, we think you’ll really like it.

On YouTube Music for iOS, we’re seeing a new “Shorts” button in the top bar for sharing and discovering. Tapping launches a sample feed of short-form videos with only songs from that artist.

This is a great and quick way to get a preview of several songs from a new artist before diving into their entire discography. The samples are already designed to offer “a glimpse of the artist, the video and the spirit of the song”.

Talking about search, YouTube Music has recently created A browsable carousel containing the top songs on that page,

The Sample button on artist pages is not yet visible in YouTube Music for Android.

In other YouTube Music developments, Speed Dial is finally available on Android tablets. Until recently, YTM was stuck with the old Listen Again interface. This is a 1×9 carousel with three pages.
