Latest polls show Newsom too close to recall call
Analysis of the latest polls from election website FiveThirtyEight indicates that California’s September 14 gubernatorial recall is too close to call.
The analysis said 48.8% of California voters oppose the recall. The removal of first-term Governor Gavin Newsom has support of 47.6%.
FiveThirtyEight says its analysis includes “an updated average of 2021 California gubernatorial recall election surveys, accounting for the quality, recency, and sample size of each poll.”

Polls show Newsom has electoral survival too close for Democrats’ comfort
29 August 2021
San Francisco (CNN) — The idea that California voters could recall Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom seems at first glance like a Republican fantasy and nothing more. After all, Newsom won by 24 points in 2018 and President Joe Biden, a Democrat, carried the state by 29 points last time.
However, now Democrats are worried that the Republican pipe dream could turn into a real Democratic nightmare on Election Day on September 14.
