Woman mauled by wolves while jogging in French safari park – National
A woman in France was hospitalized after being seriously injured in an attack by three wolves while jogging in a safari park near Paris on Sunday.
The unnamed 37-year-old woman was mauled by three Arctic wolves and bitten “on the neck, calf and back” while walking through the Thoiry Safari Park, AFP reported.
While jogging, the woman reportedly entered the main safari area, which is reserved for cars only.
It is unclear why the woman moved away from the safe pedestrian path and toward the vehicle area, where animals roam freely.
The woman was rescued after park workers heard her scream during the wolf attack. She was taken to hospital for treatment.
Christelle Bercheny, CEO of the Wow Safari Thoiry group, told AFP that the injured woman “crossed the American reserve on foot”.
At a news conference Sunday, Bercheny said there were electric fences in the preserve to keep animals from getting out. Even though the woman managed to climb over the fence, Bercheny said park visitors are constantly reminded of the dangers of interacting with wild animals.

Thoiry park officials did not provide further context, including whether the jogger entered the area by mistake or whether there was a lack of proper signage.
A police investigation is underway.
Initial findings revealed that the woman and her family were residing in one of the park’s parks. accommodation on siteCBS News reported.
Maryvonne Caillibotte, Versailles’ attorney general, said first responders reached the woman “very quickly” after the attack began. The wolves, she explained, were “driven away and then brought back to their area” after the woman was rescued.
On Sunday, Caillibotte said the jogger’s life was in danger. No updates have been provided.
Thoiry Park is located about 40 kilometers west of Paris. More than 750 animals, including lions, elephants and rhinos, are present in the park, where they can be observed from guests’ vehicles as they travel through the safari.
arctic wolves are native to northern Canada. They are carnivorous animals that can weigh up to 175 pounds and measure around 9 feet long.
