This realme concept converts a smartphone into an interchangeable lens system

Phone manufacturers are constantly trying to find ways to make cameras bigger and improve in their devices, allowing them to work as a true replacement for dedicated cameras. To end this, Xiaomi recently announced “Modular Optical System” Concept PhoneWhich offers a lens module with a built -in four -third sensor that attaches magnetically to the back of the phone. A fellow Chinese smartphone brand, Realme, said, “Catch my lens,” and raised the east, releasing a concept phone with M-Mount.

While Xiaomi’s approach uses a sensor built in a lens that attaches magnetically, Realme opted for a bare sensor built in the back of the phone and an existing lens mount. Realme states that the concept has a customized type 1 (13.2 x 8.8 mm) Sony sensor, which is covered by glass to save it. No matter how difficult it is, it is unsafe for scratches and cracks, which will then affect the image quality.

The M-mount of the phone allows users to avail the existing full-frame lens rather than purchasing an ownership lens system. Prototype is on a performance at the Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona. Realme is reportedly providing lenses to try the system, although the current concept is not able to power autofocus motors and lack electrical contacts to provide exf data. Given those boundaries, it is understood that the company chose manual focus-cavalry M-mount.

Even before attaching the lens, the mount is big.

The concept phone also has two traditional phone cameras, which use both type 1 sensor. It is still not normal to get a sensor that is bigger in a phone, let it be three alone, so it is possible that the phone can be an standout shooter even without an external lens.

The concept of a phone with an interchangeable lens mount is not new – Xiaomi has done a lot A few years ago – And the final product can be quite uncontrolled. This is especially true with large lenses, which will be incredibly front-havi when connected to a slim, light phone. It is difficult to imagine that ergonomics will be anything that you want to experience for a very long time. After all, you must essentially catch the lens, not the phone. In addition, the required lens mount is heavy before attaching a lens, so it is not a compact system at all. However, despite all its potential flaws, companies like to work to pursue boundaries. Who knows where it can take us, after all.
