Dubbeldam architecture + design Ontario shared pictures of a modern cabin in Kavartha lakes in Canada. Designed as a peaceful retreat for a multi-generation family, the house brings three generations together under one roof.
Thinking was firmly deployed in a natural clearing, where a chronic structure was standing once, the cabin slowly rotates on the ground, preserving the surrounding forest and mature trees. The lake peeks through the water of the catchcoma, it peeks through the leaf, basically combining the landscape as it has always been part of the scenes.
The layout of the cabin is broken into three different versions, each with the top roof with the roof at the top. This design connects the wings of the main and guest bedroom to a central living area, forms a natural flow, while still gives each location its own sense of recognition. This is a clever way of bringing everyone together, yet it still provides some secrecy when needed.
The entrance porch is neatly tucking the main amount of cabin, its walls are wrapped in warm red cedar which provides a welcome unlike dark wood siding. This is a simple detail, but one which adds too much attraction from the beginning.
Step inside, and you are immediately treated with a stunning view that spreads correctly through the heart of the cabin. Instead of staying open, your eyes are carried through the doors of oversized sliding glass directly, which prepares a photo-perfect glimpse beyond the lake.
Inside, a natural palette originally flows from the room to the room, creating a warm, grounded environment that feels both timeless and true for its surroundings.
In the living room, a freestanding stock wood-burning stove proudly sits on a slate stone, which connects both warmth and character. It is paired with a custom steel firewood holder that is as practical as it is stylish, a perfect mixture of function and craftsmanship.
Behind the fireplace, a panel of cold-ralled steel soft, adds a bold contrast to the walls of the maple plywood. It is a striking detail that brings depth and texture to the room, making the entire space a slightly more sophisticated and unpredictable.
In the heart of the living space, there is an underlying maple plywood banquet in the dining area that gently wraps around the table. It is a hot, welcome place, which is perfect for everything from large family food to quiet morning coffee.
Outside, a huge deck is spread over several levels, which follows the slope of the land, as it moves towards the edge of the water. Running with the lakeside of the cabin, it creates a variety of invited spots, which is perfect for everything from the vibrant family to the fresh air alone in peaceful moments alone.
Back inside, the kitchen creates a beautiful balance between heat and cool sophistication. The rich ton of maple plywood is paired with a smooth grustone countertops, charcoal cabinet and a striking waterfall island, which brings a modern edge to a comfortable interior palette.
Where the roof meets, a comfortable scaffolding is tucking, an ideal hangout spot for teenagers. Located above the open floor plan, it provides a private little corner, which looks below the ventilated, double-hit living area below.
The family and the guest bedroom are classified into their own wings on either side of the central living area, which offers a sense of privacy, while still feels connected to the heart of the house.
In this bedroom, the color and material palette continues to coordinate with the rest of the cabin, calm, harmonious and easily with the rest of the interior.
