Julian Pradignac, founder of Atelier PA, was asked to design an apartment of this small hotel-style, poorly litRoad-level location. He started by opening the original layout of the apartment to work with a separate bathroom, live and sleep the same open space. A “service area” was built with a small entrance hall, and it includes a room for a washing machine, as well as a small sink, toilet and a minimal bathroom in wax concrete with large shower. Working with the length of very small apartments, Prading The storage space is created over the installations of the apartment, to free the floor space as much as possible. This also allowed her to create a long, custom-maid unit, which acts as a kitchen, worktop and even a small impromptu home office-with a cabinet front that doubles as a desktop when proposed in place. There is also a drawer that doubles as an ironing board.
Earlier, a mejenine level broke the volume with its beautiful high roof, making the space feel small. A simple pulley system, however, made more spaces when no one is using it by allowing the apartment bed to lift on the roof. This changes the use of space that allows the owner to keep a couch in the room, thanks to the wooden stop in the wall (more than the sofa) on which the bed is low. The tedious task of going to bed or setting up and then twice a day is exhausted. “Inspirations have come from laundry lines, which can be easily used when they are being used and then can be kept away easily. It allowed us to think about the bed from a technical point of view. But we were also inspired by the reputed fishing trap used in the Lawyers, Charged and Girone rivers of France.” From this misleading simple brief, the bed becomes an attractive feature of the unit, thanks to the fickle aspect of how it operates, but also the way it disappears prudent. Keeping in mind the small space, the storage problem is solved by the large kitchen unit and cupboard that spreads to the entrance and the roof on the bathroom sides. The approach here is simple – no chaos is allowed.
