Coming from you Christopher frostThis detailed video takes a close look Fujifilm xf 16-55mm f/2.8 r lm WR IIPerformance and quality construction. The original 16–55 mm f/2.8 was known for its solid optics, but was heavy and heavy. This new version moves the weight down to just 410 grams while maintaining weather-resistance and a strong construction. The aperture ring clicks smoothly and can be locked for video work, although the zoom ring is a bit link. The autofocus is sharp and silent, which is reliable for both photos and videos. A remarkable omission is image stabilization, which means that handheld users should consider whether their camera has stabilization in the body.
The quality of the image is generally stronger, although not innocent. The center sharpness is excellent at f/2.8, but the corners suffer slightly, especially at the most broad and longest focal length. Stopping F/4 or F/5.6 below improves sharpness of the corner. Deformation and vignating are noticeable, especially at 16 mm, but it is easy to correct in the post. The flair resistance is average, with some damage in backlit scenes. Close-up performance is decent, with a minimum focus distance of 30 cm, but the wide pictures appear soft until the slightly closed down.

Frost also tests the lens against bright lights, finding that it produces some flare and less contrast, especially at a broad focal length. However, coma performance is excellent, making it a reasonable option for night photography. Bokeh is smooth and free from harsh distractions, although the background smear is not so deep with a major lens. The chromatic disorder is minimal, especially when stopped below.
