As physicians of a visual art form, I think most photographers share a praise for a wide range of visual arts. And while the image is still a special place in my heart, I am also a sucking for the magic of moving pictures, cinema is one of the great pleasures in my life. Individual projects are extremely important for your development as a photographer. In addition to being incredibly satisfying, they can be a lifetime of your inspiration and creativity. I always have at least a personal photography project, which I am actually working at any time, as well as many possible future projects, which flesh completely with notes and resource content- Out plans are in a state of conception.

You never know that inspiration for any one of these projects can proceed you. I remember that the way Andy Warhole was watching a documentary about the portrayal of everyday items, they could turn them into objects of attraction for some, and I got a little light on my head when I got my famous piece It was seen showing a set of campbell’s soup box. When I looked at Warhole on a soup box, I knew that I wanted to do something with it and used it as a subject for a photographic piece of my own – maybe something probably a little fierce, but hope That is also humor even in darkness. I am somewhat impressing my accurate train of consideration here, but I remember that the compartment of Warhole’s soup reminded me of the stacked-up compartment that you see in the fairground shooting gallery you see in the fairground shooting gallery. I also remember that the shooting of an entire can of tomato soup with a gun will probably be something that meets the scene of Gore after gunfight in the film Quentin Tartino – and thus, the idea was born.

I already had all the photography gears that I needed to shoot this concept. The only thing I had really lacking was the real soup, and after spending half an hour in my local supermarket, taking care of the campbell’s tomato soup compartment carefully, which were not dent or scratched, I did not shoot Was ready for

The above image was the initial picture that I had chosen to serve as the initial point for my final image. I do not claim any kind of expertise or knowledge when it comes to firearms and ballistics, but in my head, I established a scene to portray the following pictures of the high middle, which from the right side A little shot can be shot and then moving forward to fall in front of it. This scene required the background and adjacent compartment to add some slightly right-to-left fake blood spatter, and was shot from under some fake blood pooling.

Instead of using flash, I opted to use constant light from a couple Lumecube studio panel LED lights That I deployed about 45 degrees on both sides of the camera – A Leica SL2-S (With a shutter speed of 400 and 1/10 seconds with ISO set.) The color temperature of lumecube panels can be adjusted at the range of 3,200 to 5,600 k, and I chose the upper range of this limit to get a good, clean, white light to illuminate the subject.

To create a bullet’s exhaust hole on Cain’s back, which was shot, I used the layers feature in Adobe Photoshop – for the first time to create a dark patches that will serve as the interior of the hole, and then To duplicate the area of ​​the can label which will be punctured by bullet. In this duplicate layer, I made a star -shaped way with a pen tool and erased its interior to allow the dark area to be shown down. I then used pen tools to select triangular areas around the center of this star -shaped hole, and to taunt these sequences to transform the fabric of the tool, so that the centers of the hole near them The presence of appearing outwards from outwards, as they were, were distorted and pushed out of the gun bullet.

In my head, I originally imagined using soup from one of the compartment to make fake blood, but the campbell’s tomato soup is not really correct texture and is really close to orange, it is deep It is like red color. That you need to copy blood. No worry – to take a little break and enjoy a good hot bowl of tomato soup while I think something else!

Finally, I settled on the classic “Hollywood” solution to use tomato ketchup for fake blood. These days, the color of fake blood in movies is largely obtained using food color, but tomato ketchup is sometimes added to the mixture to get the texture correct. I planned to deploy my fake blood in two ways: The first could be that was shot; The second will have some blood spatter from a gun tablet on the background behind the can and nearby cans.

With a little composing, tomato ketchup worked fine for blood pooling under the can, and I felt that I felt a syringe to squeeze some ketchup on a white surface as a composite layer for fake blood spatter on the background Can use This, however, did not work very well, so I finished using a special effect in Photoshop using a spatter brush. Since I wanted an appropriate degree control on the spatter, I decided to apply the spatter on the background and the spatter on adjacent compartment separately.

To make a spatter on the background, I used the object select tool in Photoshop to select all the compartments and then reverse the selection so that when I put a spatter brush, it would only paint the spatter on the white surface around the box. – As shown in the animated image above.

Similarly, to paint some collateral spatters on the adjacent compartment, I chose each to apply the spatter so that I could carefully control where it ended. Considering the concept in mind that the gun tablet was not focused at all, but a little came from the right, I applied the fake blood a little more generously to the left box.

I had a lot of fun with this small personal project, and although I felt the last image came out very well for the first pass, I could definitely see the place for improvement. One of the great aspects of these individual photography projects is that, in addition to adding your creativity, you can learn a lot from them. I have found very helpful in adopting a attitude that a personal project is never fulfilled. If you always consider your creative output to be a work in progress, you are never closed the door when it improves it or in this process remembering the opportunity to raise your own skills and standards.

When we are working on someone else’s dime, there is usually a time limit to get the goods, and we rarely have a luxury to sit with a task, as long as we get it to get it.
