Where did the idea of the story come from?
The idea of the story originated from RFA’s creative director Kim and Visual Project Manager Paul Nelson. According to Kim, he started an ambitious project to mark the second anniversary of military coup in Myanmar, collaborating with RFA’s Burmese service.
Visible journalist Jemunu amsinghe The lead image came up with concepts, including printing the faces of each jute member. Graphic designer Amanda Vesbrod Hand wrote his name and other members of the team added images to a cork board with red string. This image said that Kim captured the essence of the story.
RFA’s Kim and Vesbrod and NPR’s photogenalist Harbage graduated from the School of Visual Communication of Ohio University.
Kim Virginian-Pilot has a former staff photographer/multimedia lead and is the director of Visuals and Creative Content for the USA Today Network in Southwest Florida.
