TL; Dr.
- Qualcomm has launched Snapdragon 8S General 4 processor.
- The new chipset has no small CPU core, which suggests good multi-core performance.
- There is no word on the first phone with this processor yet.
We have been listening to a new Snapdragon 8S processor for some time, and we expected it to slot just below all-wishes. Snapdragon 8 EliteNow, Qualcomm In fact, Snapdragon 8S General 4 is announced.
The new chipset was announced in China and uses Snapdragon 8S General 4 instead of the expected Snapdragon 8S Elite Monicer. We are speculating that because the new chip uses the Custom Oryan CPU of Qualcomm off-the-chest Arm Cortex Cortex CPU core. More especially, the new chip looks at a cortex-x 4 core on 3.2GHz, three cortex-A on 3GHz, two cortex-e720 core on 2.8GHz and two Cortex-A720 core at 2GHz. In other words, the processor differs from its predecessor by not having any small CPU core.
It is worth noting that Snapdragon 8S General 3 used the same large and medium core, but steps to leave the small CPU core means that we are expecting better multi-core performance for 8S General 4. Qualcomm says that you can expect 31% better CPU performance compared to last year’s Snapdragon 8S General 3 Chip, but the figure is that it adds multi-corr performance.
The new chip Snapdragon 8 also uses an adreno GPU with a chopped architecture started on 8 elite. A slip Qualcomm Posted by China suggests that the GPU has three slices vs. elite chips, as well as a 12 MB dedicated memory. You can expect Ray Tresing Support and Firm’s Game Super Resolution 2.0 Tech to promote 49% graphical performance on 8S General 3 GPU.
What about camera and AI features?
Qualcomm’s processor has a sharp NPU and twice shared memory compared to the previous chip. These upgradation means that you can expect 44% faster AI performance according to the chipmaker.
Give importance to camera experience? Then you can expect 320MP snapshot (above 200MP), 108MP single-camera support with multi-frame processing and support for three 36MP cameras. You can also expect advanced features such as 4K/30fps low-light videos, 250 layers of real-time division in photos and videos, real-time skin/sky tone improvement, and tropic authentication. Unfortunately, we see some videos downgrade as compared to top-up-up Snapdragon chips because the new processor supports 8K/30fps, 4K/120fps, and 720p/960fps 4K/60fps and 1080p/480FPS options.
However, Snapdragon 8S General 4 brings two notable connectivity upgrade: Bluetooth 6.0 and Xpan Help. The latter means that you can use Sangat Wireless earbuds on Wi-Fi Instead of Bluetooth for better range and quality.
Other notable features include an unspecified 4NM design, QHD+ or WQHD+ resolution 144hz refresh rate support, APTX Adaptive/Loses/Voice Integration, Quick Charge 5, and Wi-Fi 7. Qualcomm says that the chip also brings 5G modem with a peak downlink speed of 4.2GBPS. Unlike 8S General 3, however, the new chip seems completely lacking mmwave support.
There is no official word on this when we can expect the first phone with Snapdragon 8S General 4 chipset. However, we are expecting the choice of Xiaomi and OnePlus to offer equipment with this processor.
