County Vikalo, Ireland, in this contemporary house Tucked in the sloping area of a quiet city in county Vikalo, a cool city in this contemporary house Dua (Design Urbanization Architecture) Does not shout for meditation, it hears it.
At first glance, it can pass to a simple farm structure. But look again. There is a design under the familiar silhouette of a curved roof and green cladding that cleverly interprets the rural vernacular of Ireland for modern life.
The house draws every detail by adorning its utilitarian grace, scattered into the Vikalo landscape from the green corrugated steel shed. Its long form, curved roof, and semi-dismantled base follows the natural slope of the site, preserves its topographical character and reduces excavations. Whatever emerges is a building that feels unavoidable, as it has always been.
Inside, the layout removes expectations. Living spaces sit at the upper level, which take full advantage of the barrel-volted sealing and the comprehensive scenes of the Glenselane Valley.
A wood -burning stove sits in the center of the wall of a living room, which is implicated with a crisp white brick and warm wood floor. Simple decorations and natural textures create a cool, invited environment that feels both modern and implied.
The entire house is strategically placed to draw a large opening in natural light from morning to evening, and both levels enjoy direct access to the road, an essential feature in this rugged, rustic setting.
The content options shakes the head to the agricultural roots of the design but the architecture is handled with accuracy. Raw textures are balanced with crisp description, resulting in a palette that feels both grounded and sophisticated. It is a house that wears its simplicity with confidence.
Prepassed by large windows, the open plan opens to the ideas of the icy landscape beyond the kitchen and dining area. Wooden floors continue through this location, while yellow marble surfaces, and dark wooden cabinetry form a balanced palette of heat and contrast, and the underlying seating space and simple wooden chairs combine the feeling of calm and utility.
In the dining area, the simple and stylish wall is set in a white-painted brick for a clean look to put the niche in the cold storage. Glass shelves keep the display light and airy, which are perfect to show ceramic, books or small plants. The warm wooden furniture and soft dawn lights, it adds the underlying feature character and function.
Below, a music room and bedroom are partially embedded in the hill, providing privacy and thermal comfort.
One of the bathrooms of the house has a peach-tond finish that forms a warm, monochromatic beauty from the floor to the ceiling. The underlying elements, including pride and tubs, increase clean lines and architectural simplicity. A complete-width mirror and window fill the space with light, which makes it feel open and calm.
In another bathroom, feels soft neutral tones and a cool, untouched. A walk-in shower with a glass enclosure remains light and open, while the floating toilet combines in a systematic form. The subtle texture from white painted brick is beautifully opposite with smooth tile surfaces.
By resuming the traditional Irish shed with care and clarity, Dua has created a place that is both contemporary and timeless. This shows how the thoughtful design can quietly turn everyday into something special, lies in place, but now we have been designed for how we live.
