Marine Iguana of Galapagos is a truly notable creature. Until its recent visit to the islands, I was sure they were inhabited in only two worlds – the land, where they in the sun, and in the ocean, where they dive for food. But earlier this week, I saw something that completely changed my perspective: Iguana can fly! Well, with a little help from at least a great aggregate. I am not sure that this particular person will manage to pass his new aviation skills for future generations. Only time will tell. For now, however, let’s see what was brought to the world of photography last week.
Recent announcements
- Lava 8-15 mm F/2.8 FF Zoom Fishia: Some of you may remember Nikon’s 8-15 mm F/3.5-4.5 fish lenses from 2018. In its widespread, it offered a spherical image with an angle of 180 ° angle, while a long end gave a heavy distorted fiscal perspective, but with full-frame coverage. The new Laowa lens follows the same formula. A minimum focus of 16 cm, an optical design of 13 elements in 9 groups, 9 aperture blades and 650 g weight. E, Z, L, and RF for $ 699 are available for Mount.
- Sigma Aizu Prime Line: It is a set of twelve professional, manual-focus cinema lenses, with 46.3 mm image circle covered focal length from 18 mm to 125 mm. What makes them special is a constant T1.3 aperture shared throughout the AIZU line. Of the eight lenses offered in the first wave (from 25 mm to 75 mm), they share the same 95 mm front diameter, similar length (125 mm to 128.8 mm), and weight (1.6 kg to 1.7 kg). Can Sigma maintain this stability with the upcoming 18 mm, 21 mm, 100 mm and 125 mm models. The lens will be available in each of $ 8,299 each for PL and e-mount from August.
- Godox v480c: A TTL flash designed for canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm and OM system/Panasonic cameras. V480C creates a good balance between output and features. Its power will not challenge the highest-end glow, but for most applications a guide number of 50 (ISO 100, 105 mm) (ISO 100, 105 mm) is sufficient. In favor of features, Godox did not compromise – this flash can serve both as a transmitter and receiver (2.4 GHz X wireless system; 100m range) without additional transmitters. It supports high speed sinks up to 1/8000s, second-ride sink, stroboscopic mode, ± 3 EV exposure compensation, and more. A fully artistic flash head provides 330 ° rotation and -7 ° to 120 ° tilt. Its 2,200mAh Li-ion battery shines 650 full-power over the recycle time of 1.7S. Control is dominated by two inch color touchscreen. Keeping all this in mind, its 361 grams weight (with battery) and compact 166 mm × 71 mm × 49 mm are quite respectable. Price: $ 169.

Canon EOS R6 Mark III – Repeated again with high resolution?
The original perception about the sensor resolution in EOS R6 Mark III was 24MP. Even there were speculation that this canon EOS R3 could have the same sensor. However, there are now indications that the resolution value of the “All-New” sensor can only exceed 30MP threshold (30–32MP). For readout speed, it is rumored to be somewhere between EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II. If the canon manages to set a fair price (less than $ 3000), it can make for a very interesting, versatile camera.

Good deals and new sales
So far, Samsung’s SSDs have managed to avoid any major accident that can tarnish their reputation – not every hard drive brand can claim with a straight face. If you are looking for reliable storage for your trip, they are definitely a solid option. My favorite capacity for a month’s long photo trip with a high-resolution camera like Nikon Z9 is 2TB. If you are planning to shoot the video, I would recommend doubling it on 4TB drive. IP65- Certified T7 Shield SSDs, which are also designed to handle highly humid environment, are currently available for $ 160 2TB version ($ 230) and for $ 290 4TB version ($ 405 was).
After the recent experience, I have stopped placing all my eggs in a basket and now always create a duplicate backup for the second card slot of your camera. It works best when both cards are equally faster and have the same capacity. In addition, buying two identical cards at a time often saves you a little money. Here are some of my favorite twin-pack deals this week:

In mid -May, I came into an attractive story of Papua New Guinea. A check scientist at the Biology Center of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Biology Center at South Bohemia University, Frantiyšek Vejmělka, managed to capture the first photo of the elusive legendary mice. Mallaomis estapentopWeighing 85 cm in length and about 2 kg, it is the largest rodent in Australia and Oceania. Despite its impressive size, however, it has been remarkably good to avoid human attention. This woolen rat was described for the first time in 1989 based on the samples of the old museum, and a live was not seen in more than thirty years. Finally, I want to share the recommendation of a book, which meant a lot to me during my first visit to Ecuador in 2008 – a book that gave birth to my passion to take pictures of newborns. Book is Plus de ecuador By excellent photographer Dead cooperIf all go according to the plan, I will meet Murray in Ecuador at the end of this week to record an interview about photography and protection in the tropical regions of South America.
