Onworld Alliance plans to welcome its newest member, Oman Air, at the end of the month.
The muscat-based airline and the coalition carrier are due to signing the final paperwork by the end of the month Year -long membership processForest CEO Nathaniel Pipar said at the annual meeting of Aviation Trade Group IATA in Delhi in early June.
This means that any onworld flier will have easy access to the root map of Oman Air, and members of the loyalty can expect mutual level benefits.

Oman Air added a second Gulf Hub, Muscat International Airport (MCT) for the alliance after the Hub of Qatar Airways at Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha. This means additional travel options for flights in the fast growing Middle East region. The airline also adds two new destinations to Oman: Khasab (KHS) in Oman, and Lucknow (LKO) in India, schedule data from Aviation Analytics firm Sirium Show.
Along with Oman Air, Onworld 15 members will claim Airlines, including Fiji Airways Fully involved in March.
More OneWorld Lounge is coming
Onworld opened its first two coalition lounge in 2024 Amsterdam’s Shifol Airport (AIIMS) and Incheon International Airport (ICN) near Seoul.
Pipar described the lounge, which was opened both before taking the coalition rudder in April 2024, as something about a proof-concept for the Airlines, a member of the oneworld, each has their own standards.

“The target is one and five, six, 10 (lounge) in the next three to five years,” said the paper.
Onworld contestants already operate the global portfolio of the lounge. Skym Alliance operates four lounge, which has spaces in Chile in Dubai, Sydney, Vancouver and Santiago. Star Alliance has six lounge: Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, Guangzhou, Los Angeles, Paris and Rio de Janeiro.

Onworld is looking at markets where members have an important mass of airlines, but no major carrier, the paper said. Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi, Kempagowda International Airport (BLR) in Bangalore, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) in Mumbai are three possible candidates, although the operators of each Indian airport challenge themselves as the operators of the Indian airport prefer to manage themselves.

Alliance-wide upgradation at the end of the year

Piper said that seven out of 14 members of Vanworld already participate in the upgradation program, which is expected to come online with eight online in the coming months.
