Although statements from OnePlus have not explicitly confirmed the development of a product called OnePlus Open 2, their foldable line is likely to continue. The first generation device received a generally positive response, although it was criticized for its high price compared to other high-end foldables, especially considering it lacked some key features. The “Open” name suits the product, so it’s unlikely the branding will change in the near future.
Note that the Oppo Find N3 was rebranded to OnePlus Open upon launch. OnePlus is unlikely to abandon the branding, but a rebranding from the Oppo Find N series in the Chinese market to the OnePlus Open series in the global market remains very likely.

digital chat station It is further said that the design of OnePlus Open 2 may be quite similar to its predecessor. A large round camera island will remain on the back of the device, but the main highlight of the Open 2 will be the triple 50MP rear camera setup with Hasselblad tuning. For reference, the OnePlus Open has a 48MP primary camera, a 64MP telephoto camera with support for 3x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultrawide camera. So, going up to 50MP for all three cameras gives us widespread optimism for bigger and better sensors.
The leak also suggests that the OnePlus Open 2 may fix one of the biggest shortcomings of the Open. The Open 2 may come with wireless charging support, a feature that many users in the US consider a must-have in flagship devices. leaker smart pikachu It is mentioned that the OnePlus Open 2 may also support a magnetic accessory ecosystem. Not much information has been shared, but we assume it will be enabled via MagSafe-like ringed cases, such as oneplus 13,

The external display, meanwhile, is said to be 6.4 inches diagonally, making it slightly larger than before. We know Oppo and OnePlus are aiming to take the title of thinnest book-style foldable, but how thin are we really talking about? There aren’t really any concrete measurements at this point, we’ve only heard that its thickness will reportedly be less than 10mm. But the phone maker has started teasing the size in images and a video.
As mentioned earlier, OnePlus founder Liu Zuohu posted on Weibo to make claims about the OnePlus Open 2. That post features an image of the OnePlus Open 2 open next to a sharpened pencil. The handset appears to be slightly thicker than a pencil lead when opened up.
Shortly after that social post spread, product manager Zhou Yibao released the comparison video we mentioned earlier. From that video, we can tell that the Open 2 is about as thick as four Chinese ID cards in its unfolded state.
Both the image and video only show a small part of the device, so we can’t really tell what the overall handset looks like. However, some leaked renders have surfaced over the past few weeks.
a report from smartprix We get two renders based on late-stage prototypes of the OnePlus Open 2. One image shows the back of the device, while the other image gives a glimpse at the internal display.
At first glance, OpenGL 2 looks pretty much like its predecessor, but there are some key differences. At first, the foldable seems to retain the large circular rear camera housing, but the arrangement of the cameras is different. On the OnePlus Open, the camera lenses are located on the left side of the circular camera bump. Meanwhile, these renders show that the rear sensors of the Open 2 are now in the top half of the circle with the Hasselblad branding at the bottom.
You might also have noticed the fact that these renders show a device with curved rear edges. This is in contrast to the flat rear body of the first generation foldable.
What could be the price of OnePlus Open 2?
Dhruv Bhutani/Android Authority
- OnePlus Open (16GB/512GB)- $1,699.99
OnePlus hasn’t shared anything about the existence of the OnePlus Open 2 or its price, so we don’t know how much the upcoming foldable will cost.
However, we can make some reasonable guesses based on past and present trends. The OnePlus Open launched at a price of $1,700, although OnePlus offered its own promotional rebate of $200 when trading in any phone in practically any condition, effectively bringing the price down to $1,500. Trading in new and functional equipment will get you better discounts.
Since the OnePlus Open 2 has some impressive upgrades as per the leak, one can safely assume that the company will price it at least the same as the OnePlus Open and won’t sell it cheap. Given that the upcoming phone will likely come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which is significantly more expensive than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 at launch, users should be prepared for a price increase in all likelihood.
After considering these factors, we estimate the OnePlus Open 2 to be priced between $1,700 to $2,000 at launch, with scope for promotional discounts.
Should you wait for OnePlus Open 2?
Aamir Siddiqui/Android Authority
We don’t know if and when the OnePlus Open 2 will launch, so asking users to wait for it is not the right move, as it may take several months for the phone to launch. If you need a phone right away, you should choose among other foldables like the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold ($1799 on Amazon) or Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 ($1899.99 at SamsungEven the OnePlus Open holds its own despite its relative age, although you should look for discounts to buy the foldable even cheaper.
