TL; Dr.
- Apple Maps launched a public web interface offer in beta test last year.
- That web version of the map is now compatible with Chrome on your Android phone.
- Apple maps in Chrome still lack some important desktop features.
Now over the years, Apple and Google are developing software and services for their users that fill the same Niches. We have found Safari and Chrome, Apple Pay and Google WalletAnd countless others. Sometimes those efforts are extended to platform lines – you can run Gmail on an iPhone Just fine – while others are too much closed for that single ecosystem. Today we are getting some news at least in a way Apple map It becomes easy for non-apple users to enjoy.
Apple Maps is available as a web service, such as Google Maps, through a beta test that began in the previous summer. And when it opened the door for PC users for Apple’s mapping solution, the same was not true on Android, where the site was not compatible with mobile chrome browser.
Now 9to5google report that Apple map “Beta” is dropped from its URL (although we are still looking at a beta label in the web interface), and more seriously, is ultimately usable in chrome on Android.
Mobile Apple Maps experience is not as impressive as it is on the desktop – at least – and looks like the look Around (Apple’s answer street view). Navigation is also a little thick, and we are probably not going to leave the Google Maps app for the purposes of being around soon. But for the least exploration and discovery, the Apple Maps accessible on the web open new options that were lacking android.
Good as Google Maps, some of what can pull Apple maps, some of them are severely impressive (its eye around the desktop is shameful for street view navigation) and we are very interested in seeing whether more of those best parts end the infection for mobiles.
