Fox Business host Larry Kudlow discusses the debate over the House Speakership on ‘Kudlow’.
Let’s quickly re-elect Speaker Mike Johnson to advance the Trumpian blue-collar boom agenda at high speed. This is the subject of the riff.
Last Monday, President Donald trump Issued strong endorsement for Speaker Mike Johnson’s re-election.
On Truth Social, Mr. Trump wrote, “The American people need immediate relief from all the destructive policies of the previous administration. Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard-working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to win. Mike Has my full and complete support!!!”
Then, on New Year’s Eve, while walking into his Mar-a-Lago celebration, Mr. Trump reiterated his support for Speaker Johnson. Listen:
IRS sets new tax brackets, increases standard deduction for 2025
Fox News contributor Newt Gingrich weighs in on ‘Kudlow’ in the House Speakership debate ahead of President-elect Trump’s inauguration.
Donald Trump: “Oh, I think they’ll support Speaker Johnson. I think we’ll have a great time in Washington and I think we’ll have great support. He’s the one who can win right now. People like him. Almost everyone likes him.”
Add to the list of Johnson’s endorsements former Speaker Newt Gingrich, who said in an interview that Republicans should not waste time with an ugly floor fight and that the GOP needs to go after the sitting speaker: “He needs a A Republican unity program is needed “over the next two years.”
Many GOP stalwarts have endorsed Mike Johnson for speaker — and with pleasure, let me add my name to the list. He is pro-growth and supply-side tax cutsBiden is a tough hawk when it comes to closing the border, stopping the flood of illegal immigration, and ending terrorism here at home. He is a person who follows law and order. He is in favor of “drill, baby, drill” and believes in Trump’s America First “peace through strength” foreign policy.
In other words, Speaker Johnson is a common-sense conservative, and he has been incredibly accessible to the media. Tomorrow, the House will convene to begin the 119th Congress with the election of the Speaker of the House as the first order of business.
I would remind people that on Monday, January 6, the House must vote to certify the presidential election, but without the Speaker, the House cannot certify. If the House, along with the Senate, could not certify, then President-elect Trump would not be able to become President Trump on January 20. Think about it! So, it is not a waste of time. The GOP House and Senate must enter the fray.
According to senior advisers close to President Trump, he wants to see “a big, beautiful bill” on his desk from both houses of Congress as soon as possible. That bill would include tax cuts, closing the border, fossil fuel reform and permitting, and promoting “peace through strength” defense.
During the campaign, Mr. Trump’s working-class coalition was repeatedly promised deeper pockets, extra pay, tax cuts, cheaper energy, closing the border, etc. Promises were made, promises were kept. A big, beautiful reconciliation bill—combining all matters of fiscal policy—needs only a 51-vote majority in the Republican Senate.

Let the blue-collar boom begin immediately. The House has already passed HR1. on energy, and HR2. On immigration. Congressman Jason Smith’s House Ways and Means Committee has been working on the Trumpian tax cuts for most of the last year.
Senator Mike Crapo is ready to pass big tax cuts through his Senate finance Committee. The entire bill could be done before the middle of the year, and would help President Trump fulfill his massive mandate for change.
