Kingston Colts Junior Girls Head to Prestigious Tournament in Kentucky – Kingston
The Kingston Colts junior girls baseball team is embarking on what could be the longest road trip of its young career, heading to Kentucky for a highly competitive tournament.
The Colts are enjoying their first season in their iconic blue uniforms with pink trim.
“It means a lot to think that even though it’s 2024 and it’s the first year that we have an all-women’s Colts team. And I think it’s incredible to actually be a part of that kind of legacy,” player Shay Trewartha said.
“It’s very important for us and for the world to see this and have future experiences,” said player Stella Bowie. “Also, other women’s teams can do what other boys or other girls can do as well.”
“These girls don’t give up,” said coach Sandra Sinclair, while praising the team’s resilience and spirit. “They have a lot of fun, which I think sets them apart and allows them to succeed. By making sure they’re having fun, keeping them engaged, they encourage each other with their positivity.”
The Colts are now preparing for the most important week of their young baseball careers. “I like to go big or go home, and this is the most important thing I can do,” Sinclair said.

The Junior Colts travel to Kentucky for the Baseball for All National Women’s Tournament, where they will face all-girls teams from across the United States.
“I think we’re really going to be tested and I think it’s going to be a really good opportunity for us to really see different pitching styles and different hitting styles and all that,” Trewartha added.
In addition to the competition, the team will face the challenge of playing on AstroTurf and adult-sized pitches for the first time.
“We did some workouts at Magoffin, which is kind of our size one with 60, 90. So it’s definitely a challenge for the pitching and the baserunning, but I think we can do it really well,” said player Georgia Lyon.
The team’s preparation has been rigorous since last fall, allowing them to prepare to face the best. The Colts’ determination and hard work allowed them to make a significant impact during the tournament.
