  • Chrome has been playing with menu order to open the link in the new tab over the years.
  • If you are used to open tabs in groups, you may have a priority as to where it falls in the selection list.
  • Chrome now provides a flag that gives users complete control over that order.

Everyone has got their opinion when it comes Browser tabSome of us are fast, monitoring, and top of unnecessary people. Others simply cannot be disturbed to think about them twice, and simply keep opening more and more until Chrome throws its “:)” counter in the counter. Depending on where you fall on that spectrum, you may have some strong feelings Tab group – To love them, they love them how they sort us open sites, or hate how they add chaos to a large list of your tabs. If you are recently opening yourself the link in the new tab groups when you didn’t mean it – or vice versa – you will be happy to know that you are not going crazy, and there is a good reason for what is happening.

When you press for a long time on a link in Chrome on Android, the first three options that determine you how the browser opens the target: in a new tab, in a new tab, in a new tab, which is currently grouped with one, or in a secret tab. But as we were poke around Google’s new Chrome beta 138 (138.0.7204.

Certainly, this is happening, but the timetable around the change is more than a slightly misleading.

As we can tell, Google The group option was reached to the top of the list about two years ago. Then a few months ago, Google Essentially reduced the change, but also introduced a flag that now controls it.

The presence of that flag makes it easier to use for Google with the layout of this menu, and that is why people are really feeling confused about what order they are really using, and which seems new. We saw such conversation for community forums Brave Browser (which is based on chromium, like chrome), identifying the setting behind all this.

If you want to change the order of your new tab options, just navigate Chrome: // flags And search for “tab in group”. The flag you are looking for is full name #Swap-nine-tab-ni-tab-in-group-endroidPull it up, and you can togle between the options for default (except for Google) or clearly enable or disable. With a flag ActiveWe first look at the new tab, while the group option gets the top slot disabled,

Now you can take complete control over Chrome’s new-table menu order and hope to avoid a lot of unnecessary disappointment.
