Is a Gopro a good travel camera?

Finding the right camera for a trip is often a goldenlox landscape. You usually want something relatively small and light so that it is easy to move around. However, you still want flexibility and good image quality to successfully capture your journey. Some people bill Gopro and other action cameras in the form of ideal options, but you may be surprised whether they are really worth buying for travel.

Certainly there are qualities that make gopros ideal for travel. First and most important, they are small; It is easy to throw your gopro in a small bag or even in your pocket without worrying about your size and weight. No matter how light you travel you are traveling, you probably have space to bring a Gopro.

Action cameras are designed for adventure, so they are designed to be extremely durable. They can handle a lot of falls, drops and bumps and typically have waterproofing to a depth of several meters without any additional security, so you will not walk on those issues whether you accidentally leave it in a stream or snort it in a purposely manner.

It is also easy to use Gopros with minimal options in the Settings menu. You can start taking photos or videos without thinking more about settings. They are relatively easy to use, even if you do not know anything about cameras. If you want something only point to your adventures and shoots, then Gopros is a good option.

Unfortunately, there are lots of Gopro properties that make them less than ideal for travel. First, action cameras use ultra-wide-angle lenses that hold wide, broad ideas. While they often offer many areas of visual settings (how much the view is captured), even the most narrow options are still quite wide.

While this broad view is ideal for some situations, it is not good for many others. All this will look away from you, which you want for many travel photos or videos. Until you can get closer to your subject, or simply trying to catch an entire scene, then Gopros will not give you images that are after you. In addition, this is not the best option if you want to take flattery pictures or selfies.

Due to partially wide-angle lenses, gopros are not good in capturing in detail by default. They can only focus as 30 cm (12 “), a certain aperture and does not allow you to choose where the camera is focusing. They essentially capture everything in the scene in the focus in the focus, so you will not be able to highlight small details or clearly separate your subject from the background.

Gopros are not good in low-light conditions, partly due to their small sensor. In dim conditions, shoots take away from the quality of the image, offering too much noise. It will also be limited when and where you can take photos or videos, which can be disappointing.

Despite their video focus, Gopros may take photos, although they will not provide the greatest experience or image quality. Your phone will give you better results with more flexible options as a more familiar area along with the look of images. Eventually, most phones provide different cameras with different -focal lengths and specific mode for portraits, macro and more.

Finally, while the lack of settings makes it easier to use them, it limits your control over your images and video visual style. If you want to manage things like exposure and focus points to determine the style of the image, then a gopro is not for you.

Gopros (and other action cameras) is good for travel, it is a brief answer: it depends. If your type of journey is highly adventurous and requires a durable, compact device, a gopro will be a good option. Similarly, if you are mostly concerned about documentation of your trips and do not want to think about settings or control your images and the style of video, it will be smart to bring a gopro on your trips.

However, if you want more control over your photos and videos, you want to capture more than broad ideas, require flexibility of shooting in a variety of lighting conditions, or most still take pictures still, you are better with a different Travel camera,
