Making two odd forms broke the scale of the house and made it realize the cabin of San Juan Island. Butt also witnessed the original American longhouse along with agricultural and marine buildings for architectural inspiration. The materials, which include random width, colored concrete and experienced cedar on the dark metal roof, meet two goals. They look at the history of cabins built on this island, and they help mix the building in a wooden space.
“Originally, the front entry was taken directly into the corridor,” but says butt. “However, our customers thought it would look very formal and they wanted it to be a more casual house. It was also felt like an entrance if you go down the road and down from the drive, which is not here. Instead, we thought about them that they are entering the house from the doctor’s point of view.” The front entry is located on the left side of the house. (The door is open in this picture.)
