Former Leclerc engineer becomes Cadillac technical director in WEC and IMSA

Former race engineer of Charles Leclerc ferrari Formula 1 team has been appointed by Cadillac as the technical director of its LMDh sportscar project.

After seven years at the Scuderia, Javier Marcos takes up a new position in the Cadillac V-Series.R program, which is part of the World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Championship.

The Spaniard was a factory-based engineer in 2018 before becoming a race engineer when Leclerc joined Ferrari the following year.

Marcos remained in the position until May 2024, when he was replaced by Brian Bozzi ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and what were described by Ferrari as “other important company events”.

He joined Ferrari from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Cup team, with whom he was chief race engineer, having worked in F1 first for HRT and then Williams.

The post of Technical Director is one of the two new posts created cadillac racing To support new LMDH program manager Keely Bosn, who started in the role on January 1 after being announced in October.

The second new job is that of propulsion manager, with a focus on the 5.5-litre normally aspirated V8 and spec hybrid system powering the V-Series.R.

The position is taken by Sean O’Shea, who joined Cadillac parent company General Motors in 2015.

He previously worked for Bosch Motorsport, supplying the motor generator unit of the LMDH hybrid system when involved in Mazda’s diesel racing programs in sports cars.

Bosn takes over management of the V-Series.R campaigns from Laura Vontrop Klasser, who was GM’s sportscar program manager covering both the LMDH and Corvette Racing GT3 programs.

That role has now been split, with Jessica Dane, daughter of Roland, co-founder of the Triple Eight Engineering touring car team in the United Kingdom and Australia, taking over as manager of the Z06 GT3.R project.

Clouser and Christy Bagne, who worked under him on the Z06, have been moved into production car roles within GM. These moves were described as a general rotation or “churn” of management within the GM Racing unit.
