United of United Starlink Wi-Fi Rollout Just hit some disturbance.
Many of the early regional jets that have already been designed with Starlink satellites have shut down the service due to radio intervention, TPG can report specifically.
So far, United has installed Starlink on about two dozen embrace E175 regional jets, and over the last few days, all flights run by these jets have operated without internet connectivity.
Why these aircraft are offline, the airline has received a report of radio intervention between VHF antennas that use pilots to communicate with air traffic controllers and Starlink antennas.
In particular, pilots are reported on radio lines after completing the radio broadcast on aircraft equipped with new starlink antennas.
With an abundance of caution, United has discontinued all starlink connectivity in its fleet and has been working with a starlink on a fix since then.
Confirming the exclusive report of TPG, in a statement, a joint spokesman shared that “Starlink is now set up on about two dozen United regional aircraft. United and Starlink teams are working together to address a small number of reports of static intervention during the operation of the Wi-Fi system, which expect to return soon.”
According to United, this type of radio intervention is not uncommon, when new connectivity solutions roll the onboard aircraft. The airline also reiterated that this intervention does not protect the flight issue.
In fact, when United launched viasat connectivity on a part of its mainline fleet, it also experienced a similar type of intervention, which required fast fix.

The good news is that United and Starlinks have already identified a solution for radio intervention, and they are actively working to roll it into aircraft actively affected.
So far, about one-third of the affected aircraft have obtained the fix and are once again flying with high-speed satellite Wi-Fi, while the remaining aircraft will be re-added after the fix is implemented.
United will not pull aircraft out of service to apply these fixes; Instead, it will wait until the affected aircraft regularly moves through the prescribed maintenance trips to implement the changes. (In this way, United will not need to cancel any flight to fix the issue of intervention.)
United is currently planning to renew the starlink on the affected aircraft over the next few weeks, but note that this timeline may slip. Of course, this outage would affect hundreds of summer flyers who were probably excited about trying to Starlink on United.
So far, United has specially installed a starlink on the Embrection E175 regional jet, and this intervention is not slowing down the employed rollout of the carrier.
The airline will re-configure 40 and E175 jets this month, and then it will start doing the same in its CRJ-550 regional jets in the coming weeks.
The airline is still planning its entire fleet of dual-class United Express Regional Jets (Family of CRJ-550 and E175 family aircraft) by the end of the year.
