Drone is being used to chase bears bear bears away from humans

Drone has proved to be highly effective for keeping the graduate bears away from humans.

Aerial footage has revealed how a remote-controlled drone is being used to intimidate the bear from human-affected areas.

For the last six years, Montana’s fish, wildlife and park departments (MFWP) are testing various non-fatal hedging methods to keep the bear away from humans, a former grouping bear management expert Vesley Sarmento, humans.

In a guest editorial piece for Frontiers, Sarmento – which is now a PhD researcher at the University of Montana – has shown that a drone is an effective tool to reduce the conflict between a grizzy bear and the human population.

Traditional hedging methods, such as vehicles, use non-fatal projectile and trained dogs, have limitations in effectiveness and safety.

However, the findings of the Sarmento suggest that these aerial equipment offers a safe and more efficient way, which takes the grizzly bear either human or animals away from the populated areas without endangering.

According to research data, Cited in a paper published in journal Limitations in conservation science For trained dogs compared to 57%, drones are more effective, with 91% success rate in scaring beer.

In the northern plains of Montana, drones have been used to intimidate the grain bears away from ranches, grain storage facilities and other possible conflict areas. Noise from drone propellers is often sufficient to remove bears.

But in cases where additional preventive is required, the drone can also be equipped with speakers that to increase the hedging effects, to increase human voices or loud noise, such as heavy metal tunes.

Drone provides the benefit of maneuver, allowing operators to move away from human areas in different areas and obstacles without the need for physical appearance, which reduces the risk for both humans and bears.

However, there is a concern that bears may have habit for drones over time, reduce their effectiveness as a preventive. To reduce this, it is necessary that wildlife managers separate their blurred techniques and combine the use of drones with other preventive measures, such as to ensure long-term success in managing behavior of bear behavior , Remove those who attract grains and bodies.

Beyond hedging, drone bears can also help wildlife managers in tracking bear movements and filming animals.

Once wandering in the vast parts of western North America, the Grizzly bear has seen his area dramatically because of dramatics destruction, hunting and expanding human presence. In areas where human settlements encroach on bears’ houses, the conflict between people and grizzlee has become a pressure concern.

As an opportunistic feeder, groupes are naturally designed for easily accessible food sources such as garbage, livestock, pet food, bird feeders, crops, and improperly stored camp gear.

When bears learn to combine human areas with food, they are often classified as “problems bear” and can return repeatedly. This behavior increases the risk of property damage, prediction of livestock and in some cases, dangerous encounter with humans.
