Cadillac’s hopes of winning the Daytona 24 Hours took a major blow with the entry of the #40 V-Series.R. wayne taylor racing Stranded on the track after a multi-car accident in the eighth hour.
After the fourth course the yellow part of the race retreated, Louis Delétraz K was battling the #60 Meyer Shank Acura tom blomquist For sixth place in the GTP class.
But it appears the Swiss driver spun on his own near Turn 2 on the restart, and hit the barriers on the outside of the corner before spinning back onto the track.
The incident saw Nick Boulle crash out of the #2 United Autosports ORECA, while Sébastien Bourdais’ #8 Tower Motorsport LMP2 entry also suffered damage.
Several GT cars were also caught up in the melee, including the #48 Paul Miller BMW, the #77 AO Racing Porsche and the #9 Pfaff Lamborghini.
The No. 48 Paul Miller BMW M4 GT3 EVO driven by Max Hesse was leading the GTD Pro class at the time of the collision.
The #40 Cadillac LMDH that caused the incident was later placed behind a flat-bed truck, prompting the car to be retired from the race.
Shortly after the sixth hour of the race the car was leading the GTP class in the hands of Kamui Kobayashi.
The other two Caddies in the field are first and third, with Jack Aitken in the #31 Action Express Racing-entered machine leading the way.
