The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has called for a highly influential cricket figure to complete the talisman batsman in the coming days and convinced it to reverse its possible Test cricket retirement plan. On Saturday, IANS reported that Kohli has allegedly infused his desire to retire from BCCI from Test cricket ahead of the five -match series in England starting on June 20.
“Yes, to persuade Virat Kohli to reconsider his potential test cricket retirement plans, BCCI has called a highly influential cricketing person to talk to a toneic cricketer in the coming days and convinced him to prolong his career in the longest format, especially considering the tour of England,” Sutras said.
India’s five -match Test match tour also marks the beginning of a new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for him. The agency also understands that the ideas were initially on Kohli, who were not ready to be a part of the team for the tour of England, but it was revealed that he had considered the format that he always preferred to play, as is known by his vocal words around it, captaining India in 68 tests.
“It was also a highly influential cricketing figure that spoke to Rohit Sharma, although it was a completely different scenario, as he later declared his retirement from tests.”
“Although Kohli is a person who does not really change his mind quickly, the words of the highly impressive cricketing figure may have some effect on his decision making and his test cricket future,” sources said.
Since its debut in the format in 2011, Kohli has played 123 Tests, scoring 9230 runs at an average of 46.85. But if Kohli does not withdraw ideas on retiring from tests, India will be less than experience on his test tour of England in his and Rohit’s absence.
While Rohit’s retirement KL Rahul and Shubman Gill will make Gill the most experienced top-order batsmen, Kohli’s potential end of his test career would mean that Rishabh Pant will become the most experienced batsman in mid-order. Meanwhile, Gill is widely quoted as Frontner to be the next Test skipper in a race, including Rahul, pants and Jasprit Bumrah as other candidates.
Both Kohli and Rohit retired from the T20I, when India won the men’s T20 World Cup last year in Barbados. If Kohli goes to retire from tests, the experienced pair will then be available for India to play only in ODI cricket.
Meanwhile, IANS also understands that India ‘one’ squad ‘is expected to be selected by Ajit Agarkar -led Selection Committee in the next few days for the tour of England. India ‘A’ is set to play a three -day game against England Lions, which begins in Canterbury on 30 May.
