Jan žaloudek architekt Recently a house has been completed by the architect for himself and his family. Together with his wife, art historian and writer Jolanta Treaker, he longed a place where someone could join or retreat inwards.
The design of the house was inspired by the idea of a chapel, and was built in a generous garden which was originally belonging to a neighboring chetu in South Bohemian village of Commen Lohota, Czech Republic.
The design drew on the terminology of local agricultural buildings, respects the traditional long form of homes with gabled roofs.
The perforated masonry, with different -sized holes, are the defined features of the house.
The white plaster echoes the tone and texture of the outer neighboring buildings, while the roof is worn with the ceramic tiles fired, and the shading panels are made from the white and spruce.
This perforated region acts as a sunshade for the southern gable wall and motivates the patterns of wooden shading panels on other aspects.
These Niches entry form vestibules and lodia, allowing flexible shading. The house can either open to the landscape, connect its inhabitants to the world, or stop to highlight its focal character.
The living room is the rest area, offering a long couch, which offers its barn ruins with a view of both landscape and courtyard. The sofa is implicated by a tapestry made of sheep wool, while a spherical window adds natural light.
The dining area with an oak table and chairs is ignored by the 19th century wood carvings of Madonna.
The focal point of the interior is a curved wooden kitchen, reminiscent of a church altar, an island made of Indian Shivakashi granite.
In addition to the main living area, the ground bound includes one of the bathrooms, toilets, utility chambers and bedrooms, while the stairs carry to the upper level of the house.
The upper floor is imagined as a separate apartment with a bedroom, bathroom and studio space. Unlike the surface, which maintains an open relationship for the outside world, Attari is a closed, cocoon -like place, which is ideal for reflection, reading and construction.
Both bathrooms in the house have ceramic tiles, wood pride and gold hardware.
