Scott Posno Design has shared photos of a modern home designed in Vancouver, Canada, whose exterior is made of dark bricks.
The house features a series of stacked, dark-coloured bricks that create a strong geometric presence, strength and privacy.
The house also features overlapping shapes, giving it a modern, sculptural feel.
At the rear of the house, doors and stairs connect the interior spaces to the outdoor spaces, where there is a swimming pool, outdoor lounge and BBQ area.
A large and dark front door opens onto an entryway with a wall sculpture and bench.
Inside, there is a serene interior palette of oak floors, oak windows and oak millwork, complemented by natural stone finishes. Abundant natural light streams in from large south-facing windows.
The house has a living room and a family room, both furnished with comfortable furnishings and wooden furnishings.
The wooden kitchen has integrated appliances and a large island. Nearby there is a casual banquet dining area and open plan dining room.
The home also includes an office with vertical wooden walls.
A standout architectural feature is the grand oak staircase, which spirals around a suspended three-story glass chandelier. The stairs lead to a large skylight, which floods the center of the house with sunlight and provides a visual connection between all levels.
The lower level of the home serves as an entertainment center, featuring a golf simulator, theater room, three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
